At my local Subway, when you order a 6" sub they always cut it not down the middle but rather a good inch or two to one side, and they always give the bigger side to the person ordering and put the smaller side back in the bread bin- their thinking being that a future customer will not have seen the unfair cutting technique.

Well, I'm always the one who gets the leftover, smaller side. I never say anything. Do you think I should complain the next time or should I just let it go?

I doubt they do this on purpose, besides at Subway all the good ingredients come pre measured. So you're still getting the good part, bread is cheap for them, you would also get a little less lettuce etc.

I think if you're ordering 6" and you get 4" you should say something. :)

this BUGS me SO MUCH!! UGH...that's why Blimpie is way better...their 6 inch is more like an 8 inch

I worked at Subway for years and alot of times I would cut bread while looking up and asking "What type of meat or cheese" and unintentionally cut the bread small. I always tried to put the too small ends in the bottom of the bread cabinet on the "reject" pan, and then waste them at the end of the night.

I would say something, albeit nicely. Just say "I'm sorry, can I get a different piece of bread, that one's a little small" I don't see how they could say No, unless it's the last piece of that type of bread ready in the whole store. They might roll their eyes becasue you're being picky but who cares??:confused3Get your money's worth!!!

I used to have a lady who would come in and order white bread every day, then change it to wheat, then to Honey Oat. Every day. And every day she wanted me to pull out every piece of bread that was ready so she could "see it" and pick the best. She liked it very dark and usually grumbled a little that it wasn't done enough, so I started putting one piece of Honey Oat bread in a pan and almost burning it for her. And every day she was surprised that there was a dark piece just like she liked it ;)

Trust me, asking for a different piece of bread is no big deal. I've had people ask to have a 6" cut into 6 pieces, 1/2 tomato on each section, 1 cucumber, 2 olives, 1 onion, 1 bell pepper slice and 1 dot of mayo on each section, wrapped seperately, so she didn't get her all black buisness suits messy.

You're not THAT picky!!!!

OMG! if someone asked me to make that sandwich I swear I would truly BURST OUT LAUGHING:lmao::lmao::lmao:
People are nuts, (thats why I am self employed and don't answer to anyone but me;)) But really that is just WAY TOO FUNNY!
Meanwhile, if I felt I was getting ripped I;d politely ask for another piece of bread....I would think any business wants you BACK to spend More $$ and an unsatisfied customer does NOT return!
By the way .....I like Subway but the sandwich NEVER looks like they show in ads, its always skimpier :rotfl2:

Funny you should mention this. DH and I often split a footlong. I always give him the bigger "half," but I admit resenting it!
