Just one day at Universal from our WDW trip?

I second doing water rides last. They are absolutely a blast to ride but you will be soaked to the point you will literally be wringing water from your clothes! One day is plenty of time for what you wanna do, we have went last two years in May and there were tons of school groups but we still did all we wanted (which is almost everything ride wise). Also we stayed at POR and got a taxi van (6 of us) to take us. There is actually a drop off and pick up area at Universal so when we were ready to leave there were plenty taxi's in the area. They actually have an attendant working the area that helps get you in a taxi.

So can we bring along rain ponchos for those wet rides?

We did this about a year ago...Unfortunately, for us it poured down rain the whole time we were at Universal. We powered through as much as we could, however with the rain I wish we would have gotten a 2 day pass at least. Not to mention the one day park hopper for 2 adults and 2 children was ridiculously expensive. The whole day was really....Credit card was flagged for theft

Oh...and our DS's aren't super adventurous as far as roller coasters are concerned, but they did have fun on all the rides. Well, minus The Mummy for my youngest, so maybe skip that.

You may want to plan around Universal's Halloween Horror Nights as others have mentioned. If they follow the same schedule as last year, they will be running nightly Wed-Sun while you are there.

I've done 1-day Universal from Disney many times. If you're going at a relatively low crowd period, you should easily be able to see the highlights of each of the parks in one day (usually doing the Harry Potter rides more than once each, the roller coasters twice, and the Popeye ride about 8-9 times in a row! Never used the express pass. Strongly recommend starting with IoA, getting into bathing suits or other clothes you don't mind getting wet, doing Jurrasic Park, Dudley Dooright, and Popeye (in that order) at noon-2 when the heat is worst and then changing. Popeye you get soaked but so much fun. Puts Kali Rapids to shame. Usually there's not a long line so we usually do that one mutliple times in a row. If its' really low crowds sometimes they'll let you just go through again without getting out of the tube. Even if not Harry Potter fans you'll want some time to just walk around the areas. I'm a huge Disney fan but I have to say the attention to detail and theming in those 2 sections really outdoes anything at Disney currently.
