Just off Wonder, 2 changes that I didn't know about

New menus from the Dream now up on the DCL Blog indicate that Sweet Temptations has also been removed from that ship.

We were on the Fantasy 7 day last week and Sweet Temptations was on the menu three times.

Maybe if you ask for it (not seeing it on the menu) it might magically appear!! We are going on the DCL Alaska cruise in June. I will ask for it and see what happens. My fall-back will be, as always, a Mickey Bar...take one for the team, so to speak.

I plan on mentioning it every time I see the dessert menu (to my server). And in the post cruise survey. I've already sent an email to DCL about the removal of this.

Yes, I can order 3 desserts, but I hate only taking one bite from each and wasting the rest.

I'm not happy with this trend either...Wonder...then Dream...and if the Fantasy only had it 3 nights, that was likely on the standard rotation which will probably change like the Dream's did. We're on the Magic next summer, and with this trend I expect Sweet Temptations to be gone by the time we sail. DD13 LOVED the sweet temptations, it was her dessert every night on the Wonder last summer. And yes, we can order 3 desserts, but the reason we liked the sweet temptations was to have 3 small desserts. Most of us don't like to waste food, and it was nice to have a 'sampling' sometimes.

No, that info is still available on the abbreviated forum of the Navigator. You can see what they look like here:

Hi! You're always so good at the details, is the one pager still all of the same information just in a different template and smaller print OR are there things missing that you can only find by using the app? Thanks for your AWESOME knowledge!!

Think of the old 4 - 8 page Navigators, as your home town newspaper ....., and the Navigator App on the cell phone that almost everyone carries constantly, as the source of news/socialization/information that takes its place.

In other news, they hardly sell Kodak, err Fuji, film in the parks anymore.
:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I am bummed about the navigators myself. I know that you can still see the hours and timetable, but it's not always easy to figure out exactly what an event is going to be just because of its name. For example, if I see "Wonder Quest" in the schedule, that doesn't really mean anything to me unless I've been on a DCL cruise before, so how do I know that it's of interest to me?

I really liked the full navigators because it gave at least a desciption of those type of special events that weren't easy to decipher from the name alone. Yes, I could look in the app, but not every has a smartphone or other device to view it on, and like others I try to unplug more on my cruises and there was always just something magical about the paper version. I would love it if they could just give it to people upon request to minimize wastage instead of just cutting it out completely. I understand why, but just not happy with the decision.

So these are actually a huge deal for us. Maybe not individually, but it is a negative trend, where every time I look at disboards, I hear about something else they have removed that happens to be something we love! Mickey mail, hermit crab races, pretzels on deck, classic disney theming in the kids club, secure programming hours at kids club, full navigators, sweet temptations... I bet next they will stop sending the welcome book/luggage tags in the mail. I know a lot of people will respond and say there are reasons, I know, but there is no reason to stop (which is what they have done in most of these cases) outright these programs. Mickey mail, for example, could have been changed to something else. Hermit crab races could have been. done differently. Pretzels? Makes no sense to me with so few food options outside of the main dining rooms. Almost smacks of laziness on Disney's part. Full navigators? All the other cruise lines have them, not exactly following "industry trends," why not switch to cheaper paper, less glossy printing, or as Aby said, by request? And the sweet temptations, makes no sense period, and I won't hear the end of it from DH next month that they have removed his favorite dessert from the world's most overpriced cruise line.

They did change the Booklet options. Right now people can still get them, but Silver and up now have the option to decline them and just get luggage tags. My guess is they are trying it out and if they find most people are refusing the booklets, they will end up canceling them altogether for the Silver and up club.

This exactly. The Temptations was a nice way of trying different things that I otherwise may not have, and if I happened to enjoy one part of it more than others then maybe I would then order the main serving of that one. I find it wasteful even thinking about ordering 3 different full-size desserts if there's the potential of not liking some of them.

unbelievable!

I was on a Celebrity Cruise a long time ago and they used 1-day navigators. I liked it so I could make sure I'm not missing any details even if I don't spend much time reading it. More time to enjoy the boat and activities.

Maybe if everyone starts ordering multiple desserts then DCL will put them back on the menu to cut down on the food waste and additional dishes that they have to now wash!!
*sarcasm button on* Yeah, but I could then see them limiting dessert down in response to that! But I DO intend to order my Grande Size Sweet Temptations next cruise (aka full-size servings)!

We were on the 4/6 3-night Wonder cruise, and didn't notice the Sweet Temptations missing. Having said that - my wife and I each wanted to try two of the desserts - so we had four of the five offerings brought to the table. The wiseass assistant server, Paolo, brought the fifth without being asked. We had a good chuckle.... and tasted all five!
