Just off the Northern Europe

Did you do embarkation lunch in Cariocas? I heard it's a la carte now? What was the menu like?

My son would like to know what marvel characters were onboard?

We are really looking forward to boarding the Magic again in August:yay:. In the meantime I look forward to your TR:earboy2:

We had lunch at Carioca's and it was ala carte. We enjoyed it. I had beef empanadas to start and some pasta too. The girls had mac & cheese and a burger. I can't recall what DH had. I really enjoyed this lunch.

We were also on this cruise and stayed at the Marriott. It's just a few blocks from Tivoli.

How did you like the Marriott? We have tons of Marriott points and were planning on using them for a room post-cruise. What kind of room did you have? We need one for four people (two parents and two kids). What did you like? what did you not like? How was the location? How did you get around (did you stay extra days before or after the cruise?)? Any suggestions? Because of the points we are pretty much locked in to the Marriott, but would love to hear your impressions.

Did anyone keep their Personal Navigators from this cruise? I'm dying to see some updated ones!

BTW the food in Copenhagen was excellent, the smørrebrød doesn't disappoint. They have two main markets in town that carry a bunch of food.

The Marriott was good, but it's no Ritz Carlton. I say a solid 4.5 star hotel. It does have a killer view if you have one looking over the canal. Even though the train station is within walking distance, it sucks to carry a child and make the 8 min walk. From what I heard, that is suppose to be the nicest hotel in all of Copenhagen.

I do have the Navaigator, let me see if i can upload it

Well....since it will be "free" this is really good news! If you can upload the navigators, you will be my new best friend! I am so excited for this trip in a year!

You are amazing! How do you remember to keep all that? I'm reading everything you are posting on your trip report. Thanks so much for doing this!!!
I take a folder with me and file them away! It's thin with plastic sleeves inside so they stay nice and pristine! I'm glad you're enjoying the report :) makes it worthwhile!

We enjoyed the Marriott. We are also frequent guests so we had club access which was nice. They have morning breakfast, afternoon tea and snacks, and evening snacks too. Location is great- walkable easily to Tivoli and the public transport is easy to navigate. I'd have no concerns staying here again.

Did anyone spend significant time in Copenhagen? I've got some questions about things I'm curious about doing in and around the city. Thanks!

I spent 4 days in Copenhagen, also spent time in Malmo across the channel too.

What all did you do in Copenhagen? Specifically, other than Malmo, what did you do outside the city? We are trying to balance interesting experiences outside the city with travel time. There is a viking museum in Roskilde I'm interested in and Kronborg Castle. Did you do either of those? How was transportation around the city? Did you buy the Copenhagen card? If so, was it worth it?

FWIW, I'm traveling with two kids and my husband.

If you guys can bike, a bicycle rental is your best option around the city as the city is relatively small and it is very bicycle friendly. Unfortunately my son is 4 and my wife can't ride, we ended up having to rent a car because my son just couldn't march all over the city for a full day. Within the city, you can go to places like Tivoli, the famous canal, the spiral church (that climb is difficult but my 4 yo did it), the canal boat rides, the two food markets. The castles and palace are okay, but they look blah compare to the Russian and other European ones. The Little Mermaid isn't worth the time, but you can go there as part of the City Boat Ride (951/952 i think).

Roskilde is nice, but a little bit outside the city. It's a one day commitment to go there. If you are going to spend half a day on some place, I say just go to Malmo. You can spend a good 3-5 hours there, the Lili Torg is very cute. Galleri Gustus is a nice place to get some local art work as souvenirs. The ride takes about 1 hour each way and cost about $20 a person.

BTW I heard Marriott charges $150DKK per person for their shuttle to the cruise port, you can grab a taxi for around $350DKK.

Sorry if I am vague with the names, but I honestly can't spell any of them.

Marriott will not let 4 in a room except upper level suites I believe. We have stayed at Copenhagen plaza next to tivolo and train station in family rooom for 4 and liked it fine. About $300. excellent location. Better than tivoli hotel or Marriott imho. Marriott has a phenomenal buffet breakfast, but $$$.

I HIGHLY recommend going up to Roskilde and the viking ship museum. Get up there around opening and reserve a time to go out on one of the reconstructed boats. Fantastic! The museum also has a "kids" area with costumes to dress up in, viking games to play, and a "ship" kids can play on. Lunch in the cafe with viking inspired food is also fantastic.

Make sure to visit the cathedral in Roskilde on the way back to the train. It's beautiful.

Kronborg is also wonderful. There is a tour there that is great.

We didn't find the card worth it when we went. We stayed near the train station and walked or took the train everywhere. It was super easy.

We spent several days in Copenhagen back in 2015. Happy to answer questions.

We stayed at the Marriott for 3 nights b/4 our 6/4/17 Norway cruise. The hotel is great. We had a junior suite that easily held four people. We had access to the executive lounge on the first floor that had free breakfast, happy hour (actually it ran 4 hours) for free beer and wine, and a 2 hour evening heavy hors d'oeuvres which was our dinner for 2 nights. Our room had a view of the river which was great. The 66 bus has a stop right outside the front door of the hotel. We used the bus a lot to get around Copenhagen. We cashed in points and thought it was a very good use of points.

sitting in Copenhagen airport waiting for our flight. Am planning to try and do a port based trip report when I get back but happy to answer specific questions if I can ..

My family and I were in EBTA debarking in Copenhagen, we were out of the Magic around 10:30am. Took a taxi to CPH. Our plane back was until 5:30pm. Our friendly taxi driver mention that right at the airport is the train station, so he suggested that instead of seating at the airport with our 2 DDs for more than 5 hours, took the train and go to Sweden for lunch. He recommended the city of Malmö, this is literally 3 stops from CPH airport. We checked in, leave our carry-on inside the lockers, bought our train tickets for like 4 € and left CPH to eat lunch at beautiful Malmö, Sweden. That was our best time invested, instead of seating and waiting at the airport.
