Like a previous poster I just got off the Dream on my 22nd cruise two weeks ago and then did my 23rd on the Dream last week.

Firstly Cruise cabin was on 8th deck - great room, spotless - sorry can't remember the number but I did notice the arm of the couch came off each time is at down and the lock in the loo kept failing. I did report both things.

Second cruise - 7126 - amazing room but varnish on verandah rail in our cabin and lots of others on that deck was all flaking off badly.Quite unsightly. Never noticed this before .

Palo Brunch - whats the deal with being served your first plate? Hated that - didn't feel relaxed at all and I don't eat lots but I like the opportunity to "browse" at my own leisure.

Room service - not sure what the heck went on but I ordered English breakfast tea with a carton of milk. I got two glasses of iced tea - so I sent the guy back and he came back with two earl grey tea bags and no hot water?????? Third time i got hot water and no milk......

Was not feeling well enough to do the Palo dinner so i had to call and leave a message at the podium saying i was not well. No one called me back and ten mins before we would have been dining I git a shirty call from Palo stating unless I told him what was the problem he would charge me $60. I certainly was not going to go into my illness with someone over the phone so i politely declined and went to Guest services. Needless to say the charge was removed immediately. But it was still all a bit stressful and really no need for all the fuss.

Anyway all in all I LOVE DCL but I did notice a few standards slipping a bit.

Oh and to top it off I heard from a crew member that Captain Henry may not be "Captain " for much longer as he is going onshore. If this is true we are gutted - LOVE Henry - He's the best and a lot of fun - Not so keen on Gus, but I am sure he's a nice guy - lol

BTW - I am in concierge in 4 weeks on the fantasy - Is the dvd player a blu ray? If so has anyone bought their own DVDs on board to watch? Is there a way to connect our apple tv to the tv in the room?
Also can you still bring an artificial xmas tree on board? I want to bring mine with battery operated lights this year. We did 3 years ago - it was a 7ft tree - thats what you get when you give DH the job of getting a "small" tree for the cruise........... lol lol. Don't want to haul that to the port and then be told we can't do it.

Thanks for the report! I have to agree I haven't liked it when we have been served the food at Palo Brunch. I felt pressured and then it almost made it seem like the whole walk though from our server was a waste since someone is there anyway. Plus I'm one of those people who doesn't like to mix my food, so the whole beauty of a buffet for me is I can place things where I want on my plate...not have them throw it all together. ;) On the Dream in January I was happy they weren't doing that but it sounds like they are again. :(

We brought an artificial tree last year at Christmas with battery operated lights. Ours was only about two feet. No problems whatsoever.

I also was not happy with someone else getting the food at palo

Apparently, it's not required:

I was on the Dream over 4th of July weekend and my server at brunch asked if I wanted her to serve me, I said no thank you and she handed me the plate.

Unless the ship is under Noro watch, I believe there's no issue with you saying, "I'd like to serve myself". You certainly can do this if you return to the buffet tables, so there's no problem with you doing so your first go-around.
