Just noticed something that kinda irks me

I just took the time to look at the extra magic hours, both AM and PM. I noticed that there is never a day where the AM is the same as the PM. :sad2: This really ( in my opinion) pushes you to buy a park hopper ticket to take advantage of this. I think the park hopper added expense is silly personally. Why should Disney care how many of the parks I enter in a given day if I'm gonna spend $$$ in them? :teeth: I think the park hopper option should be free to guests staying onsite!!! (Please don't flame me too much!!!)

hmm my thinking is how many less days of a passes i would need if i had 4 extra hrs with only resort guests in a park...probably would drop from exhaustion but could do it in 4 days

Not flaming you, but I don't see how the EMH hours push you to buy park hoppers as I think only one day in the regular EMH schedule has hours at 2 different parks. Maybe they changed the standard schedule.

I disagree with this. I think the hopping feature is worth it. But, this is what makes the ticket system nice. I can buy the features I want and you don't have to buy something you think is silly. For me, I have no reason to pay extra for a non-expiring ticket but it works great for others.

Not sure when you're going, but a hopper pass is a great convenience. If you go during a busy time, you'll quickly find out that many people are not buying hoppers and the park with EMH is way more crowded than the other parks. We went to MK often this summer and it seemed that Tues and Fri were the days that worked out best for us. Each day was packed. Fri night was crazy busy. For those with hoppers, at least you can leave the park if it's too crowded on an EMH day.

We're gong in Jan, have been about 8 times since 2001 and to be honest have "hopped" maybe 1-2 times. We've gone in Jan, in Aug and Thanksgiving week, so pretty much have been at the best and worst of times!!! We always did early morning, the extra hours at night are new to us ( returning in Jan of 06) but we did do the extra hours that you used to have to pay for at MK. So now that they have these exta AM and PM hours that are "free" the only way to take advantage of both in a given day is to pay for the park hopper which is an extra $35 each regardless if I park hop with a 5 day ticket or a 10 day ticket. :guilty:

I double checked the days on allears and not on one day for Sept or Oct that there are extra hours offered are they the same park for the AM or the PM. If it was say Mk for Am and MK for PM you would not have to hop to an extra park. However as it stands now if I do MK EMH in the Am, I would then have to have a park hopper pass to go to the PM EMH at MGM. pirate:

There is only one day a week that even has AM and PM EMH.

I think the previous tickets were all park hoppers except for the 1 day. I look at it as you can save money if you don't want the hopper option, rather than automatically buying it as before. I think they tried to make the MYW tickets as flexible as possible by tailoring options to fit your needs and only buying what you want.

We almost always hop. Go to one park in the morning, take an afternoon break, go to another park in the evening.

I know for me at least, if I'm in the parks by 8am, I don't think I'd be able to stay up past midnight or later to take advantage of evening EMH... especially if I want to be in the parks again by 8am the next morning. I doubt it's a scam to make you buy a Park Hopper. It seems like they just catter to different crowds (morning/day crowd vs. night/late night crowd). JMO

But it is rare that there is a day that even has 2 offerings of EMH's (1 day a week) so again, I don't see the park hopping issue.

Okay sorry...I was also looking at the August hours where there were 3 days a week that has double parks Am and Pm. You're right about it only being one day per week in Oct...however I still say they're trying to get you to pay for park hopping with that as a tease. Obviously we all have different opinions, which is what makes these boards great. :cool1:

I still would rather the hopping option be a free bonus to those of us who stay onsite. I still probably wouldn't use it that much, and it would be a drawing point for those of you whom seem to like it so much. I also don't think it would cost Disney any extra $$$, whereas the free dining that they're doing now could definately be $$$ directly out of their pockets :wizard:

Well, hey, look at it this way. You are going in January so the crowds will probably be so low, park hopping won't matter anyway. Have a great time. :flower:

Ditto on the exhaustion factor! We are mostly morning people so we don't bother with late EMH.

Maybe Disney is smart enough to promote the upgrade in this way but I don't think it's "sinister" I think it's a wise business decision on their part possibly. Over Spring Break this year MK DID in fact have early and late EMH once per week because there was early EMH every day at MK. That meant MK was open 7am-3am and then at 7am again.

i see it this way as well... catering to the morning audience w/one set of EMHs and the late night audience with the other... i cannot imagine doing a.m. EMH and p.m. EMH on the same day unless i took a LONG nap in between! LOL!
