Just needed a cry.....

:wave2: Hello from another Tulsa family going in October. We have a similar story. I needed ankle surgery so we moved our March 05 trip to October. I got all teary about it too. It's been 9 weeks since my surgery and I would still be in pain if I had to walk around all day. Did your DH have surgery? I'm so excited about October and MNSSHP. We are going to take my mom and try to get her hooked on Dinsey! I think I'm going to keep the trip a surprise for DS 7 and DS5. You can start working on costume ideas! Take care!

October is better, November even better than October :earsboy: Hope your DH is ready for some walking around the World by Fall. :earsboy:

I'm sorry to hear about your last-minute rescheduling, but just remember that the planning stage is almost as fun as the actual trip! So now you can start over and look through all of those books, online sites, get a new passporter, etc., which are all of the things that are SO FUN - almost as fun as the World itself. Enjoy it!

Hope your DH heals quickly! October is my favorite time of year at WDW! We were at WL last October 22-31, the weather was beautiful, crowds minimal, and NO rain! We also had an awesome time at MNSSHP! Have a wonderful time!

Sorry about your trip and DH's ankle. You'll like October though, I think. I just convinced DSis and her family to reschedule from June to Oct. Better weather, smaller crowds, Food & Wine festival and Halloween party!

That really stinks, but you're still going to go. Temperatures are going to be cooler then in florida, and you'll enjoy being out more in the daytime. Being wheeled around in a wheelchair is not much fun either, I remember we had to do that with my father when he broke his leg and we were out in Hawaii. He didn't seem to have the best time because often he was stuck inside while we were swimming or snorkeling. It's good that you waited for him to have a full recovery.

That really sucks about the airlines though, so many people these days are just too untrusting. Either way, you still have a wonderful trip to look forward to in October, and perhaps save up more money so you can splurge even more! :banana:

So sorry to hear about your trip delay! :sad1:
I must say, however, that I am shocked to hear about how easy Disney trip insurance was on you! My mom had a package with trip insurance booked for early last September and my brother (her only son) died suddenly of a heart attack just before her vacation. WDW travel insurance would not refund her prepaid trip until she had produced his death certificate. (THAT was a hassle to come up with as my mom had to get it from my SIL...I digress...) They would not let her out of it even with a copy of his obituary with her name from a major newspaper.
Anyway, glad for you that it was not a big deal... My mom could have used a break like that when she was already dealing with so much...

He was scheduled for surgery on Thurs., but they couldn't get him intubated, so they did not do the surgery. They manually manipulated his ankle, and put another cast on it. Very suspicious to me that he miraculously didn't need the procedure when the anesthesiologist couldn't get him intubated. But we will see how it goes. I am just scared now that he will have difficulty in the future with his ankle. I wasn't very impressed with St. Francis, which is where he was to have the procedure. Oh, did I mention that he broke his ankle because he fell asleep standing up? I had told him to go to bed several times but he wouldn't listen. He was standing leaned on the back of the couch because he wasn't ready to go to bed. Five min. after I told him that if he didn't go to bed, he was going to hit the floor, he hit the floor and broke his ankle. Men! :sad2:

OMG! I am so sorry about your mom's ordeal. That must have been horrible for her to have to deal with. :( We had booked our trip through AAA, so I don't know if that made any difference. We just called our TA, and she called Disney and called us back and said we would be refunded within a week. We have to go through an insurance agent for the airline tickets, and have to get forms filled out by the doc. But Disney was painless. Seems like a death in the family would have been a more excuseable reason to cancel. :confused: In theory, my DH could have gone on the trip and just used a wheelchair or ECV. He would have been miserable though. Again, I am soooo sorry that happened to you. :hug:

I am so sorry. MNSSHP is really incredible and you'll also be able to attend the Food and Wine Fest at Epcot-- truly amazing itself. I know it's hard since you were so close, but you will have some really great events to attend in October.

Hi. Just fyi so people aren't mislead about this issue, the majority of lines at WDW are wheelchair accessible and those that aren't have a different entrance to the attraction. The lines accommodate people in wheelchairs and the wait time is the same as others in the same line.
::yes::
Most of the lines are "Mainstream Access", which means they are acessible thru the regular line.
