Just need some clarification on Disney Rewards Cards from the Dis Visa

I'm redeeming for my first rewards card, and I understand that I can add more points/dollars to it later on as long as I have at least 10. What I'm wondering is, can I use up the full balance on the card and that still applies? So basically, just as long as I have the rewards card in hand even if the balance is $0, I can add a min. of 10 points/dollars to it? But it's just that if I need to order a NEW rewards card that the 20 point min. is applicable, right?

Thanks for the help!

OK - not sure if this is your question, but here goes:

Back in the early part of this year, I called Chase for a new REWARDS card and asked that my current balance of rewards points at the time (about $150) be added to it for our trip to DLR in April. In April we used ALL of the points on the card, all the way down to zero.

The card itself (basically looks like a credit card) has remained in my wallet since, with 0 balance. I just called a few weeks ago and added my latest rewards points balance to the SAME CARD (the person you speak with will verify the number of the rewards card that they are applying the balance to). I just used all these points toward buying MVMCP tickets for an upcoming trip, my card, again has ZERO balance. Before we go on this trip in December, I am guessing I'll have $15 - $20 more rewards points available, I will call just before our trip and apply these points to the same card, and then use it on our trip for a CS meal.

The REWARDS card I have has an expiration date, end of next year I believe. I will continue using this same card and just re-applying any current balance I have to the card, as I need them - UNTIL it expires. After it expires, I will call and request a NEW rewards card. Same thing if I happen to lose it, I would just call and ask for a NEW rewards card and then transfer my current points to this new card.

Hope this answers your question.

If the card hasn't expired then you don't need to get a new card every time. Just reload it. If it has gone past the expiration date then you need to get a new card and the 20 point applies. I did this last year. Got my card early with the bare minimum then transferred the rest right before I left.

What she said. :thumbsup2
Yes, you can apply more rewards to the same card even with a zero balance on the card. Just be mindful that you'll use them up before the expiration date.
Also, I don't call the number, you can add points to your rewards card online when you log in to your credit card account.

Yep, that answers it! Thank you!!

(I just wondered because I'm going to use the balance to pay off the trip, but will have enough to reload it ON the trip, so I wanted to make sure I could reload it with a zero balance)

Just make sure it's not going to expire before/during your trip. For example, I just did what others' did - I transferred my balance to my card, then used it to pay a portion of our trip. My card expires, however, in December of this year, and my trip is at the beginning of next year, so I'm holding off on adding any more points to this card - I'll just get a new card in December. (Or in January down at Disney.)

I was wondering too since I haven't used one yet...just letting it accumulate points right now. You answer was so easy to understand! Thanks for spelling it out for us!!! :thumbsup2

The 20 ddrd minimum only applies the first time you request a card. After you've had one card, each time you request a card after that, it only requires 10 ddrd, just like when you reload an existing card.

If you are near your expiration date and still have unused points on the card, use them to buy a Disney Gift card, which doesn't expire.
