We're going for a quick trip down for MNSSHP October 17. DS has always wanted to stay at CSR, so we thought we might try it out. I'm hoping for October codes, but just in case, I went ahead and booked. I have stayed at a bunch of other WDW resorts, but I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about this one. Any helpful hints? (I've requested a room near the Dig Site. DS loves the idea of the pool. I know it's a long way from the food court, but that's not a big issue.)

We stayed at CSR last summer and loved it. DH says he doesn't want to stay anywhere else from now on. I'm trying to talk him into splitting stay next time between CSR and Poly. DD loved the pools. We stayed in Cabanas. It was about the same walking distance to the pepper market and the dig site. And the quiet pool was at out building. DD liked it the best. The Mayan Pool was always so crowded, we just played there when she wanted to slide. The quiet pool never had alot of people in it. And was great. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to help.

We've stayed at CSR twice now and really enjoy this resort. We were in thr ranchos 7B and the walk was maybe 5 minutes to the Pepper Market. I lthought of it as exercise. I could walk to Pepper Market get a real yummy dessert and walk back to my room- no guilt.(well not too much). Be sure and rent a surrey and ride around the lake, so many pretty areas to look at. The pool is great and the slide is a lot of fun. You will have a great time!! ::yes::

We just got back from there 2 weeks ago and we also spent Christmas week there. We really LOVE this resort. So much that we are considering changing our ressies Thanksgiving week from CR to CSR. We stayed in the Ranchos both times and really enjoyed the theming. We can't figure out why people walk to El Centro and Pepper Market though. Any theme park bus will take you up there and then a Downtown Disney bus brings you back. We can't comment on how long the walk is because we've never walked it. We love the variety of food at the Pepper Market and don't mind the 10% gratuity. The Dig Site and Mayan pool is great too. A couple times the main pool was crowded so we just refilled our mugs and went over to the quiet pool which was never crowded. The buses were never a problem either. A couple of times a bus was full so we just waited for the next one which only took a few minutes.

If I had it to do over again I would request a room facing the parking lot and near the bus stop. It would really cut out a lot of walking. Trying to get from a room on the interior of the resort to the bus stop was a hassle. The buidlings are set up like a maze. When you're in a hurry to get to the bus stop or tired returning from the parks, the last thing you want is to be near the dig site pool. I don't consider any of the "views" to be all that spectacular, so a parking lot view near the bus stop would definitely be my request if I stay there again. I know this is contrary to popular opinion, but it would definitely be more convenient.

I have to say that we had a 2nd floor room with a beautiful view of the lake. And going to our car was no problem at all. I didn't think anything was hard to get around. The buildings were in a circle with the between the lake and the buildings, didn't feel like a maze at all. The buildings were numbered. And at checkin, we were given a map of the buildings and their numbers. We stayed in the Cabanas at the quiet pool. It was a very short walk to the pepper market and the mayan/dig site. No problem walking at all. One evening it was raining when we wanted something to eat at the pepper market so a CM gave us a ride on the golfcart.

Thanks, everyone, for the VERY helpful replies and links. I have a much better idea of what CSR will be like and what requests I'd like to make. DS will want to be near the dig site, and I know that will put us a good long way from the Pepper Market. We have currently requested only a standard view room but could, of course, change that. It looks like bldgs 7a and 7b are the closest to the Dig Site. Is that the case? Also, we generally drive down to WDW and have a car available, but we'll fly down this time and use towncar transport. I'm assuming they'll drop us at El Centro and we'll check in. Are bell services available to take our luggage around to our room? (I can just imagine how much fun it would be to haul suitcases around the lake. ;) )

Thanks, Buzz! Your site answered ALL of my remaining questions. Thought I might request Rancho 7B or Cabana 8A or 8B. Also, DH wanted to know if CSR had wi-fi or high speed internet yet. He'll be so happy to know it has both. (Sigh, I remember when we used to go on trips without the computer.)

JulieWent... I'm leaving for CSR in less than 2 weeks :Pinkbounc Anyway, I requested Cabana 8a, I hope I get it. My DS wants to stay in the Cabanas. I'll let you know what I got and how it was when I get back.
