I am soooo excited. :Pinkbounc I am a first time poster, long time reader, and I just made my first ressies EVER at the CR. I can't contain myself.  I followed everyones' advice(including the unofficial guide) and called for room-only ressies. I gave my list of 3 requests-North Wing, 3rd floor, magic kingdom view. Of course my wonderful operator explained he could not gaurantee but would add my requests to his remarks. He then asked why the North Wing? I said I heard it was all non-smoking and dd2 has asthma and other allergies. He immediatly responded that he would call special needs to make sure our room had a VIP cleaning before arrival because of her needs without my asking.HOW NICE :flower: I was shocked however to find that all standard rooms were booked already so I took a garden view. He did remind me that I could call back and check for standard availability AND apply discount codes at a later date.(I already knew that thanks to these boards but I couldn't believe he offered) Just goes to show you there are truly nice people in this world.

Enough gushing...Has anyone ever stayed in the CR north wing 3rd floor? Can you see the fireworks and the castle changing colors or is that only a view afforded by the tower rooms?

Anybody know what is entailed by VIP cleaning? Does it include getting freshly washed bedspreads or will I have to resort to the "oops, I spilled a soda" trick? :confused3

Sorry this is so long. I have so much bottled up inside being a first timer :)

Welcome to the DIS, Grace&Caroline'sMom!

How exciting to be staying at the CR! I stayed in the North Garden Wing about 10 years ago, and had a wonderful stay. We did not have a MK view room, though, so I can't answer your question about whether or not you'd be able to see the castle, but if you have a MK view room, you should definitely be able to see the fireworks!

Have fun planning your trip!

My family usually stays at the WL. But, last November I took my two DD's(9&7) by myself (wife stayed home with baby). We were booked in the wing. But, was upgraded not only to the tower...but to a room with on the MK side. Kids loved it. Was easy with the monorail.

I would highly recommend a ground level room in the North Wing. You get a patio. The upper levels do not have balconies. A garden view room will face Bay Lake and not the castle. The standard view is actually cheaper because it looks out into the parking lot. We just went and stood or sat in front of the North Wing during Wishes. You could hear the music coming from the 4th floor observation deck (or somewhere).

They'll probably run an air cleaner before you check into your room. They have offered to do that for me in the past at CR.

Welcome to the DIS. I know how you feel I just got off the phone w/ a CM to add someone to my ressie and I'm balling. I don't know why I'm just so over excited to go. It's been a couple of years since our last visit and I'm so over joyed to be going. It's nice to know everyone on here understands your excitement

Forewarning about the extra cleaning they offer...it's mostly meant for rooms that have been smoked in that shouldn't have been or to help remove any allergens in the room. With our experience they spray some kind of chemical on the carpets and steam clean them...this actually exascerbates my son's asthma condition. So I have to ask them not to do the super cleaning. But, it may be helpful in your case. My son's asthma is set off by chemicals and smoke mostly...sometimes allergens.

And I just booked our first trip to CR about 5 minutes ago! :) I'll be in the wing rooms in September if all goes well...I'll let you know how the room was! :)
