Just made my first reservations for DS at Sandcastle Club...

And I'm already nervous. He has been dying to try the Kid's Clubs and loves the whole idea but is only 3 years old now and can't go yet. But we're going for his 4th birthday and after the actual day, DH and I will be going to the Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner (DH's b'day is a week before our trip so he needs a celebration too) and DS will be going to the Sandcastle Club while we have dinner. I told him he gets to go there on our next trip (he thinks that is at Thanksgiving - he doesn't know about the September trip) and now he is extremely excited. So why do I feel like a bad mom, not spending every moment with him while we're at WDW?? I absolutely do not think other parents are naughty for doing this...I just can't get past it for mine. He spent some time in the kid's area at SSR when we signed some papers for an add on contract last November and loved it...but...I don't know.

Can anyone else tell me about their first times with the clubs? DH is beside himself excited and I will be too. I'm not worried about DS, just me I really want to try the Cub's Den on our November trip if this goes well...

Also - if anyone has any photos of the Kid's Clubs that would be GREAT!

Dont feel bad, my kids will be going 2 times during our trip, so DH and I can have some "quality adult" time! Have fun, they will too!

I can't comment on the kidsclub at Disney but as a working mom who's kids have seen daycare since age of 1 and up, let your inner mom voice tell you if it's ok or not. Some kids are just fine with care, some are not happy unless they have their moms.

I have been lucky with 2 that do just fine. While on a cruise a few years ago, my oldest (then 5) cried when she COULD NOT be in the kids program that they offered. I knew she would love it! But cry when she had to spend time with us!?!

Imho, if you son wants to do it, he will be just fine. Just pack a tissue for yourself, 'cause it sure is hard when they start to grow up and away
But you get to have a grown-up dinner with a hot meal and no poorly timed potty breaks What could be better? Enjoy!

My DS6 stayed at the Poly Neverland Club while my DH and I went to the Luau. Big mistake!!! Oh my DS loved it had a great time was well cared for even ate some food he refuses to eat at home.

The problem he wanted to go back the next night. As a matter of fact he wants to go this August for one night. Now this would be wonderful but this is a Mom/Son vacation. What am I to do while he is having a great time. Oh I may just have to go parkhop alone

My DH told my DS no he couldnt go back the next day. Said it was to expensive $10 ph. I however think if he has a good time and I get a break for a few hours it is well worth $10 ph. I also pay to have my Driveway shoveled in winter. My DH thinks my DD 16 and I shovel it ourselves. Well worth the $30-$40. IMHO

Let him go. You go enjoy yourself, and if he is like my Son take your time coming back to get him or you will have to go out back to get him and almost force him to go home with you

My kids, ds then 4.5 and dd then 7, stayed one night at Sandcastle Club about two years ago while my dh and I had dinner at Flying Fish. They were probably there about 3 hours and it worked out fine. They weren't begging to go back necessarily but we had only planned one adult night out and it worked perfectly, we enjoyed having our time and they were happy with the activities (ds played a lot of video games) and movies. In a week long vacation it was a nice break for all of us. There were not a ton of kids and the facility was clean and the staff friendly. So unless things have really changed you will probably feel comfortable with the facility itself. Sorry, no photos, but someone started a thread asking about Neverland club, I believe it is in the restaurants forum, and they may get some posted. Overall, we had a very positive experience and I think we will plan another night there when we visit next year.
