We only have a month and a half until we go, and the arrival of a postcard made us change our itinerary. We were going to stay at Coronado Springs for the first 3 nights of our stay (with Dining for those 3 nights), and Double Tree Downtown Disney for the remainder of our trip. Then on Saturday we got a postcard with a PIN number for a Value resort room rate of $59/night. WOW!!! How could we say no to that? We're still going to stay at Coronado for the first 3 nights, because I've always wanted to stay there. I was hoping to add the Dining plan for the rest of our stay as well, but our AAA agent said in order to do that we'd have to add one day tickets, and we're going for enough days already, IMO.
So we're going to stay at POP for the last 6 nights of our trip, and we're not going to rent a car. I'm a little nervous, but optimistic about all of the $$ we're saving. I never thought I'd be a full on-site vacationer, but we're doing it! :woohoo:

I am sure you will enjoy it. If you truly want to add the DDP, the yes you would have to get a 1 day pass for your stay at POP. But you could save that pass for future if you want too:goodvibes

We didn't get a code but we did the same thing. We were staying at Doubletree Suites for the first half(with HH points) and Poly the second half. We changed a couple of days ago to POR the first half and Poly the second half. We do still have the first night at Doubletree so we can see how it is. It is just SO much more magical staying on-site so we decided to bank our HH points and use them for trips to somewhere other than Disney.

wow!! that's great for you!! I wish I could get one of those postcards sent to me so we could save some $$ or maybe go for even longer!! I just don't know how some people get so lucky because I certainly don't have that kind of good luck!!

You will love staying on site!

We never thought we could do it on our own either (mostly our inlaws paid for us to stay with them) but in 2001 the value rates for FL resident were $49 per night so we jumped at it. We have stayed on site ever since.

BTW, we stayed at Double Tree with my inlaws once before, very nice hotel but our room had a highway view and it was very loud at night

It is truly a good thing to stay on site. You will never want to be off site after this. Make sure you give the DVC person my name when you buy your Disney Timeshare!:rotfl:

That is wonderful - you will absolutely enjoy your trip more this way. And don't worry about not renting the car. With the Magical Express and the DDP - there really isn't any reason to have one as it will just sit in the lot anyway. If you don't get the dining plan for your entire trip and want to eat off-site say at the Olive Garden next to Goodings just take the bus to DTD and walk along the strip with all the hotels. You'll end up at the intersection with Gooding, Chevy's, UNO's, TGIFridays, Olive Garden and Pizza Hut. I did it a few times before the DDP and it only takes 15-20 mins to walk. Have a great trip.
