After seeing a picture of myself along side my athletic, gymnastic sister-in-law my self-concept is blown. :confused:I thought I was much more athletic in my body type than revealed in the photo.

Yesterday, my chest felt funny while I was shopping:scared1: (kind of like an uncomfortable pressure) and I'm going to call my doctor on Monday to have her check it out.

I need to make myself as healthy as possible to set a good example for my darling little ones (:love:DS 10 and DD 2) and to improve the chances I will be here as long as they need me.

I have been toying with buying Wii EA Active - but hesitated because I didn't stick too long with the Wii Fit. I've read reviews on line:surfweb:, picked it up in several stores - then put it down before I bought it.

Well, today after viewing THE PICTURE, I got the picture and bought the game. My DS helped me set it up and encouraged me :banana:all the way through day 1 routine. "Mom, you are doing great" "You really ARE good at this". What a sweet fellow. Still young enough to be sincere with these comments.

I took the "Medium" option for the workout. Walking, Jogging, some bicep curls, some lunges some boxing, inline skating - all in 22 minutes. I was sweating but not out of breath at the end of the program.:woohoo: DS gave it a go and the program customized the workout to his size, so I know it does not give everyone the same routine. I liked being able to move through the exercises quickly. Today I am pleased with my performance.

About me:

I'm 40 (that freaks me out), married for 11 years to a sweet, supportive :hug:guy, have 2 kids DS10 and DD 2, and teach school :teacher:for a living. I'm on summer break until mid-August.

Weight this AM was 153

Height 5'6"

My BMI hovers at the top of the healthy range according to Wii Fit.

My goals:

1. Complete the EA Active 30 day challenge.:yay:
2. Eat a heart-healthy diet (a la South Beach phases 1 and 2)
3. Lose 10 pounds
4. Post here daily

WISH me luck and thanks in advance for the encouragement.:cheer2:

Oh - comments are welcome :)

Day 2

My Wii remote and nunchuck ran out of batteries in the middle of the kick-butt exercise. Luckily I had a back-up remote and nunchuck.

Today there was a variety of running, high step, kick-butt, lunges, and tennis. Tennis was a little hard for me (I've never really played).

My workout was about 29 minutes today (compared to 22 minutes yesterday). I was sweating through most of it.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a rest day - but I may just do another one of the options in the game.

A friend gave me a lot of plants for my yard. This afternoon I'll be digging and digging, and digging some more to prepare new beds for all of these wonderful items. My lawn is currently just one big green expanse. Very little there except grass and weeds. So glad to have some things to put in it - all for free. And she said I could come back for more if I wanted it. Her yard is beautiful and well established. Oh- I'm off topic.

I weighed 153 again this morning.

Breakfast was 2 eggs, feta cheese, and a V-8 (and coffee with 2% milk and truvia for sweetner). The 2 year old wanted a V-8 so I gave it to her. Yep, she poured it down her chest

I have suntea on the porch. After church obligations, I'm going to get busy in the yard. Updates later today.

Yep, it's all good. It is a struggle to walk up stairs.

Today I had the first day of teaching VBS to 4 year olds. What a bunch of sweeties. Even had my dear sitter's grandson in the class. I'm glad to get a chance to hand back some of the goodness she's given my children.

Came home and took a long nap.

I know I said yesterday I was working out today, but the best I'll probably do will be a walk around the neighborhood with the kids.

Weight was down .2 lbs today.

Ate a faux cinnabon for breakfast from the SouthBeachFriends site. It was pretty good. I was tired of standard eggs in the morning.

See you tomorrow. The lunges kicked my butt - literally. LOL.

Well, I was able to get in a few sessions this week in spite of vacation bible school, going to the local amusement park and the zoo. We also had lots to do Sunday at Church and for Father's Day, we had company.

Nevertheless, when I dressed on Sunday I noticed my clothes were fitting a little looser than usual. Oh this is great! The dreaded scale said 152.

Now, I have not been good for three days. I promise I will be back to it tomorrow morning. My DH had unexpected dental work today and I told you all about how I feel on exercise when he's at home. I'm just shy about that I guess.

I have been having a few problems with my exercise routines that were probably my fault. The game didn't recognize my arm or leg (the nunchuck) and I accidently shut off the game as I was trying to switch controllers. That erased my progress. I was bummed that I didn't get credit for my entire workout.

My lesson is to make sure that the batteries are fresh every time I use the game.

I'll try to post tomorrow.
