Once again I'm reminded WHY I love being a DVC member so much. Last week, I had to make reservations through (ugh) CRO for a conference at WDW next June (DVC points all spoken for). Unfortunately, my call was routed to the dreaded Travel Co. (double ugh!). It's been a while since I've had to make ressies through anyone but DVC, but I'm not a novice, so I knew what I wanted. The first gal was OK, got what I needed. Later that day, I called back to amend the ressie slightly (date change on the conference). The gal gave me a new total, which I didn't think was right based on the rate I'd originally gotten. I questioned her, but she assured me she'd given me the correct info.
Called again later to confirm as I just *knew* it was wrong, and sure enough, it was.
Got that fixed after much hullabaloo. Then today I called (as instructed by original Travel Co. CM) to get the Disney Club rate. Apparently by using the DC rate, these really un-amusing cancellation penalties apply. When I expressed my displeasure to the CM, she said, "Well, you're not PLANNING on CANCELLING, are you????" Uhh....no.....but things do happen!! 
At any rate, all told, I've spent more than an hour on the phone getting my lousy 3-night ressie at FW made, and I *never* want to do that again. Give me my DVC!!! It's a scary ressie-making world out there!!
