So my wife and I are in the middle of becoming DVC owners at the AKL Villas. We were going through the literature that came with the paper work and found a paragraph that was a little troubling. It stated that you could only book up to seven nights at the 11 month window. How does this work? We like to go every 2 years and we stay for a minimum of 13 nights. I want to be able to book the whole trip at the 11 month time frame. If we are not able to, then when can you book the rest and what are the chances of getting the rest of yours days at the same resort with the same level of accommodations? This could be a deal breaker if we are reading it right. If anyone could shed some light on this that would be most appreciated. Thanks for your response.

If you call 11 months from your arrival date, MS will allow you to reserve up to 7 nights at once. You can then call daily to add additional nights or wait 6 days to add the other nights for your 13 night stay. I agree that it would be great if we could reserve as many nights as desired 11 months ahead, but this is still an improvement from the original policy that only allowed members to reserve nights 11 months from the checkout date - where many would call daily from the checkout date of their first night and then try to add one more night with additional daily calls.

You should be fine with the current policy. For most types of villas, you could wait until 11 months from the 6th night of your stay and reserve the entire trip with one call.

The only challenge is when members are competing for accommodations for limited types of villas - like AKV Concierge, Boardwalk View at BWV, GVs at HH in summer months and BWV standard views.

Welcome Home! :)

Thank you so much for the information. It will mean a little more work but is still doable. Thanks again!!

If for some reason you couldn't get the rest of your days at your home resort, you would waitlist for the remainder of your trip. At the seven month mark if your waitlist hasn't filled, you can always do a split stay. That is a great way to enjoy more of the DVC resorts.

When you are calling right at the 11 months and booking 7 nights, there is no way not to get the rest of your nights as long as you call and add them prior to the original check out day.

So, if you want to go October 1st through October 15th. You call Sept 1st and book 7 nights, Oct 1st through October 8th. As long as you call before September 8th to add days, no one else can get your room as you have it booked until that night.

As a new member who was booking 14 nights during the holidays, I, too, as very worried about this prospect, but it ended up working great. I called and got my first 7 days when my window opened, and then called every day thereafter and added the remainder of my stay. It was very easy! Good luck! :goodvibes

Just to clarify, the earliest you could call for an October 1 arrival would be November 1 the prior year - 11 months before the start of the stay. I suspect sandisw had a typo there. ;)
