If you don't hear from me for a few days it may be due to my ISP filing for chapter 11. They are trying to work out a solution but I may be without internet access for a few days and my e-mail may be out for even longer. I will try to get on to the DIS and check my PMs. Hopefully things will transition smoothly and there will be litttle or no interuption.

The patient still lives! It looks like the weekend will be safe. Have to see what Monday will bring.

My cable ISP is Telechoice (US West/Qwest). I'm not too much up on @home. But isn't @home the internet cable for Cox Communications?
Cox is our other local internet choice, but they cost more all the way around (cable TV and internet) than Telechoice.
Who is @home? Isn't that the one going under?

@home is Excite, the vendor Cox uses for their high speed internet. Cox is working on forming their own network to take the place of @home. I'm guessing they still need a little more time to get it up and running and they are negotiating with Excite and persuing all legal avenues to keep things up and running. The big questions are when will Excite pull the plug and how much more expensive their new service will be. May have to look in to DSL. No way am I doing dial-up. With all the graphics stuff I do I need that extra speed.

When I had a choice between Telechoice and Cox, there was no contest. I consider us very lucky to have two internet and cable choices.
Even four years ago, Cox was $15 a month higher on the cable/internet service. Plus I was told by Cox they store the web sites you visit the most on their server. So people weren't even seeing the newest version of that web page, unless they refreshed.
When DH was doing the web page for the Omaha Marathon, he had Cox users wanting to know why the web page wasn't updated. He always explained the page was updated, but they were accessing Cox's stored version. Some still didn't believe it.
Cox claimed storing the web pages made the service faster. And maybe it does. But when talking cable vs modem, again no contest.
