Just how rude can WDW guests be?

You know what I think? I think the OP was just mad because he didnt think of it himself to have another family member go and find a table while he stood in line...

This is AMERICA...we are a metling pot. We don't have one set norm or culture. Different people do things different ways and where I'm from 'in the big city' its survival of the fittest---translated to go find a table before your food gets cold or you have to stand up and eat it.

I am sympathetic and as you saw in my first post since I had a table for 4 and it was only me and DBF I offered the rest of my table to a small family. ANd to the poster whose mother had health concerns and needed a seat I would have done that to...however I am still going to continue going off to find a table while DBF gets the food as I just think that makes the most sense! :thumbsup2

I swore I wasn't going to post but I can't stop myself! I've seen this mentioned before & always amazes me when people think waiting for someone to get food while you hold a table is rude. I have to say that I defintely wait at a table while DH grabs us food. We stand & wait for a table to open up before we even think about getting food. Who walks around with trays in their hands, kids trailing behind in a packed restaurant knowing they are going to have a tough time finding seats? I don't want to name call but that doesn't seem logical. Unless you are alone & have no choice, then I imagine it's tough. If I was alone, I would probably grab a snack & find a bench or a wall nearby. I don't cut people in lines, block exits, or run to get premium seats at a venue. It's like comparing apples & oranges. If we are done eating & we see someone waiting, we get right up & say "here take this table" before someone can run over & jump in front of them...especially if they have young kids. We don't "hog" tables, but offer someone to sit with us? I honestly don't think so. No offense but I don't like being THAT close to strangers who have been walking in the hot sun. There is only so much that deoderant can do! Don't mind smelling my own family but not someone else's funk while I'm eating. Plus I've seen people brush their hair in restaurants, slap their kids, fight, etc. I'm sure most people are very nice, but if you don't know them, who knows what their habits are? :scared:

I'm not the Disney God??? Oh my, I was sure there'd been an election and I won...I guess I'm going to have to cancel my new stationery and vanity license plate!:hyper: But I'm so sorry to all who can't seem to have a little fun with stuff.

Melomouse, I appreciate your tone and you know what? Perhaps rude isn't the correct word because so many people do this (save tables) who have legitimate reasons and using a word like rude to describe only a portion does actually make the others think I'm calling them all rude. Thanks for the enlightenment. :)

jarestel, you may think it's a stretch but please explain how? Holding a seat waiting for food, holding a row waiting for folks going to the restroom? And who is to question if a particular "row holder" has 20 family members in the bathoom at the same time? Where's the difference?

Rescue Ranger, learn to comprehend what you read before you rant. Ignoring half of what I say in favor of ranting over a few adjectives I may use as hyperbole is just lazy and shows your intelligence level...And I have two words for you as well, would you like to guess them? :rotfl2:

lillygator, of course all that disagree with me are not illogical. Most, but not all. :lmao:

Isn't this fun?

I want to thank you for showing your true colors. There is no need for me call you names or cast aspersions about your intelligence level because I think everyone can see for themselves what you truly are. Have a Disney Day.

P.S.: I will no longer participate in this thread because it has gotten as ridiculous as its originator.

Don't let the door hit you RR...You have added nothing to the discussion (arguement). :cool1:

ericafny, in the OP I stated that it was only my daughter and I at the Tusker House, was I to send her out on her own??? But I applaud your willingness to share in your WDW experiences. This is the root of my complaint (and calling people rude), no one offered to let us sit for a moment or use an unused chair. As I said I couldn't even get eye contact with these louts as they were to busy "protecting their space". That's really it and honestly most of you have read too much into my posts.

jarestel, you are correct but whose job will it be to confront those 20 people or the single person holding the row? You may think there is Tom Foolery going on but you won't know. The row is being held for a reason the 'holder' thinks is legitimate...Just like holding a table for soon coming family members is legitimate...I stll don't think it's right in all circumstances though.

I didn't read all the replies, just the first and last page. Boy did the tone of this thread change.

I am a stickler for manners. I try very hard to instill in my children polite behavior.

However, I do not believe it is rude to have one or more people in the party save a table while another is in line getting the food. It doesn't make sense to have all members of a party waiting in the food line. When we have done this, the people looking for the table often take as long, or nearly as long, as those in line. Plus, there have been times when the ones searching for a table still haven't found one by the time we've gotten our food, and we've ended up sitting on a curb or standing to eat anyways.

If it is busy, we always eat quickly and get out so others can sit down.

People, people, this is disney. The happiest place on earth. I like to come here for some advice but good grief. You never hear this kind of abuse toward each other on some of the other boards I visit.
If the way counter service meals work is not good for you then make an ADR and go to table service, it is that simple.
I cant imagine my mom, myslef, and two infants just standing around waiting instead of sitting down at the table while DH went to get food. If that makes us rude then I am sorry, I guess we will be rude.
I want to come to these boards to encourage one another, share ideas, learn about restaurants and tips for saving time. Not to be discouraged and reminded of the subway.

If you gave off any of the attitude that day at the Tusker House that you have given off here, then it's no wonder that no one wanted you to sit by them. :headache: Anger like yours can be seen a mile away and most people do avert their eyes away which is how you described what happened to you that day. Maybe a nice camping trip in the woods would be a good idea for your next vacation. pixiedust:
