Just "how hard" are the beds at Pop?

I keep reading about these super hard beds at pop and now I am worried. I don't like a super hard bed and it hurts my back. Are people exaggerating?

I am considering switching to ASMu to a refurbed room with the nicer beds, but have a problem there - about 18 months ago my ex-DH took my DD there with his girlfriend tagging along. She did NOT have a good trip (way too long of a story) and they stayed at ASMu, and she refuses to ever go back there now because it will just bring back some very bad memories for her of some bad things that happened during her vacation (lets just say spousal abuse in the room in front of DD).

I have been working 2 jobs to take her and get rid of those memories (I haven't been in 8 years!) and make new Disney World memories with Mommy!
I can't afford a moderate and we chose Pop, but now all I hear about is the hard beds. EEK...are they THAT bad?

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

I didn't think the beds are Pop were hard at all. They weren't as nice as you would get in a more expensive hotel, but no one in our family complained. We were usually so tired at the end of each day that we went right to sleep. I think Pop would be a great place to take your daughter. It's colorful and there are lots of fun things to look at. The pool areas are nice and the food court has lots of choices. I think you'll have fun there!:)

Let me say first I would definately stay at POP again if it was what my budget would allow.

My trip there was for spring break of this year and the matress actually had a spring sticking up in it. I felt this hard thing and checked and sure enough that's what it was. It was just me and my DS so I just scooted over but I didn't think those matresses were the most comfortable thing I had ever slept on for sure.

What a great thing you have done for your DD:tinker:

Our last stay at Pop, the beds were horrible! I didn't notice them so much in previous years, maybe they were newer then or maybe I just got a bad room.
That being said, I don't think it would spoil your trip if you really want to stay there. The beds at the mods are much much better, if it's a really big deal to you, then you need to upgrade.

We just got back from staying at POP. Beds are fine. My 6'5'' DH and I (5'9") slept in one together (we have a King memory foam at home). I suggest you stay away from ASM if it has such bad memories for your child. You both will love POP and it is a great place to start new memories for you both! Have a good time. I miss it already!

We stayed at POP in July and the beds were fine. The only thing we wished is that they were queen beds. Other then that, POP is awesome!!:thumbsup2

All Star Music has the newer pillowtop matresses- The same brand Disney has put in their refubished deluxe resorts. ( CR, Poly, & the newly refurbished GF rooms)
Also the beds at Pop are on a hard foundation and I think that is why they feel so hard.

The beds at the All Stars are movable.

The beds at Pop are on a foundation that is bolted to the floor.

Another option might be a preferred room at All Star Sports.
The rooms at All Star Sports are being refurbished between last June 2007 and Febuary 2008.
It is my understanding that the preferred buildings at All Star Sports have already been been refurbished.

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!

We stayed at Pop at the end of August. Our first time at a value resort and we thought the beds were fine. No complaints at all.

Pop is very cute. I think you will like it. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much. We really have our hearts set on Pop out of the values (I can't afford the extra $550 it will cost for a mod - I called to see the pricing and its not doable). I guess if the beds are 'that' hard we will just ask for some extra blankets and put them under the sheets! :)
Thanks so much. This is going to be a very very special trip for us! Its a dream come true! I never thought I could pull it off!

We slept great at Pop! No complaints here about the beds. We found the beds and pillows to be comfy. Our sheets were nice and soft until our last night. On our last night the sheets were stiff and starchy. If it wasn't our last night, I would have asked for a different set of sheets. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe in an effort to conserve water they only change the sheets every four nights or so. I definitely wouldn't have wanted to suffer on those stiff sheets for four nights! Just remember once you are there, if you are not happy, politely call the front desk and see if they can help you.

I hope you have a magical trip!:wizard:

We never had a problem with the beds at Pop. Here's a funny story though - we were staying at OKW and the bed in the our room was hard as a rock. We called housekeeping thinking that someone must have requested this bed because we just couldn't get over what a rock it was. So, housekeeping calls us back, is extremely apologetic and again, we are thinking they had a special request for this mattress because we can't imagine. Anyway, they offer to bring us a new mattress asap and say that the mattress is old and we are in a room where the old mattress hadn't been changed out yet. They are so sorry and will be right up. :thumbsup2 So, they bring in a brand new mattress set, still wrapped in plastic, place it on the bed and re-make the bed, etc. We were so pleased that they did this and thanked them. They leave and we go to lay on the new mattress. It's hard as a rock. :scared1:

Someone at OKW likes hard mattresses.

So in conclusion, the beds at Pop were wonderful. The bed we had in our one bedroom unit was prehistorical. :rotfl:

To me it's all about the pillows and blankets. We always bring our own blankets and pillows. I can not use what is at the resorts. My sister and I went away this weekend. We stayed at a national chain. Brought our stuff slept like a baby. It always reminds me of home! Yes I am 30, but I am finding things from my home make my stay better. Have a blast!

The beds were fine for us but then again we were so darn tired after being at the parks all day I think I could have slept on anything.

We just returned from the POP and the beds were fine. This was my third trip this year and have stayed there all three times. I have never had any problems with the beds. It is my family's favorite place to stay. Your DD will be so happy to be spending time with you, you probably will not notice the beds :)

Have a wonderful trip!

We stayed at POP in September and the beds were fine. Slept great except when the neighbors next door decided to slam door open & closed for quite awhile & then again when the little kids were running up & down the front of the rooms screaming when they should have been in bed.

POP's a great resort & your DD will absolutely love it!!

Stayed one night at POP in June 07. Beds were very hard and uncomfortable:scared1: My 6'6" DH and I were squished into that tiny little double bedpirate: We were glad to get back home to our King, plus we had just come from 5 nights in a King at SSR:love:

They are fine. We checked out of Pop and went to NickHotel for one night to surprise the kids. THOSE beds will make you appreciate the ones at Pop Century!

My first reaction was "not as hard as the ones at Nick". :lmao:

We've stayed at POP several times and have never had a problem w/ the beds being hard. That said, I like a softer less firm mattress. If you really think it might be a problem take a pair of those inexpensive foam 'egg crate' mattress covers. They're pretty cheap. Put them in an extra suitcase or duffle bag and then you can leave them behind at the end of the trip and fill the bag w/ your souvies. ;) If you're driving, you could always run to the nearby Walmart and buy a set, if you feel like the beds are too uncomfortable. good luck w/ your trip. :)
