Just how elusive are these ADRs to get?

We are headed down 12/11-12/18, with a party of 9. During free dining, obviously. I'm wondering (and I'm prepared to call at 7A on Tuesday when my reservations open anyhow) how elusive a) reservations for parties of 9 are and b) how elusive a BOG reservation is. We plan to make it on a MVMCP night (no later than 6 because we don't have party tickets) at the end of our trip. Not exactly 10 days but more towards 7-8 days.

I'm rambling. LOL Has anyone had success with making big party reservations and BOG reservations or am I in for a huge headache? We went during FD this past September and I got every reservation I wanted with no issue- but there were only 3 of us.

Thanks!

My 180 was 50 days ago and I couldn't get BOG for dinner for 7. I tried and tried and I also have a TP search still looking for me, but I think its even more difficult to get BOG for dinner during party times. We're going during the Halloween party and trying to get dinner at BOG around party dates is practically impossible. Sorry :(
I am in the same boat.

Large parties are harder, but not impossible. Try breaking the search into smaller groups (5/4) and get them close together in time. And, if you don't get it at first, keep trying!!! And use the Touring Plans Reservation Finder. Very helpful!! Good luck!

Try as soon as time opens for online reservations (an hour earlier than phone reservations) on the latest day of your trip you can, and I agree with PP who said break them into 4 and 5 if you need to.
HERE is the December cancelled ADR thread for future reference, if you don't get what you're looking for.

Good luck!!

Definitely go on line at 6am eastern time. Don't wait to call at 7am. BOG is very popular, even more so on a party night.

My advice would be to keep trying for every morning for the first couple weeks. We are going the week of September 12th and we have a party of 7. My ADR opening day there was no availability and many people were having the same experience. I subscribe to the Disney Dining Reservation topic on the boards so whenever anyone starts a new thread I get an email. Based on the threads everyone was starting around the time I was booking there was very limited BOG availability. I kept trying every morning for several days. Then I got a notification that someone has recently posted a thread that reservations for BOG dinner seemed to open up because they had multiple reservations available the week I was going. I was able to get two reservations for our party of 7 on different day, one for lunch and one for dinner. Be persistent!

Even though online opens an hour earlier is it worth calling as well if nothing is available online or will it be the same result?

We have a party of 9 going Dec. 3rd to 8th. Our window opened 6/6. We could NOT get CRT at all, or 'Ohana at 5:00ish. We didn't want anything at really odd times like 3:30. We got all through our list, and then my daughter remembered she wanted a BOG lunch. And then she forgot that she had 9 people selected instead of 4. She actually GOT that ressie for 9 people on the 7th, after 7 am. That was 180 + 4, not 180 + 10. It's at a reasonable time, too...11:45 am. So BOG is possible with 9 people.

That said, we had to split a 1900 Park Fare into 5+4, as that was all that was available on the 7th for dinner. And that wasn't with the "initial loading"; that was a little later in the morning.

We're still looking for a reasonable 'Ohana. We'll just keep looking.

Unfortunately we are staying offsite (friends have a rental home a mile away). We will have to plan the next one staying at the resort, might be a different outcome for us that way.

I have booked for larger parties - but it seems whenever I do BOG for the larger parties the times have always been right about 4:00/4:30. For November I booked on a Saturday night 9 days out and the only times for a larger party were those (it's a non-party night so that wasn't an issue). If I just wanted to do 4 people I could have had a 6:30 reservation. That being said, just be prepared to maybe have to book an off time for a larger party there.

ETA - I was able to get for parties of 9 last year so it is possible for dinner there for a party that size

BOG for a party night before tickets are required is hard, because they only have ADRs from 4-6:15 for that. Add in a large party, and I would have a back-up plan for that dinner.

I totally forgot that dinner doesn't start until 4 and I'm giving myself a really small window. I set up my reservation finder on TP to search the whole week for me, on top of my own searching/calling.

Thanks everyone!

A R&C dinner OR lunch reservation is virtually impossible to get. I'm not happy at this point as I can't even get an early dinner reservation between 3:45-4:00 and we are only a party of 2. This is at almost 180 days out! I can't book until tomorrow because I have a split stay and I already changed the day I'm eating here because I couldn't get the initial day I wanted. I also checked the whole 13 days of our trip and nothing. It seems highly improbable that this place is full for these meal times. I'm not sure that all the reservations are being made available online. I'm going to be ticked if I have to change my plans again for this restaurant.
Just also tried lunch and all I can get is reservation times of 3:10 and 3:20. Oh boy!:sad2: Now I'm going to have to try to book it on a Merry Mixer day so I may not be able to attend that which I was looking forward to. Last year we had a last minute trip and booked this place in less than 3 weeks out and I can't get it at 180 days, what's up with that?

I've heard that a lot of Epcot restaurants have little availability because the Candlelight Processional packages haven't been released yet and they're holding them to use them for the promos. :(

Oh great! I guess your correct but I can't get anything at Coral Reef either. May be something will open up but I already have my days planned. Do you know when the CP packages will be released? Thanks.

Our 180 day window was last week and I couldn't get much of anything that we wanted. We are a large party (8) so I know that's working against us but I tried breaking down our groups to smaller groups, still nothing. We don't even want that much but I'm trying to get O'Hana. I was able to get a Tusker House and Crystal Palace breakfast but both are for 10:30 am. I took them because that's all there was but I'm really hoping to be able to get an earlier time.

For those that have been in this situation, when and how often should I be checking for more openings? Right now I'm a bit obsessed and checking just about daily but I won't be able to keep this up for 6 months! LOL

There are some Ohana breakfast openings still the week 12/5-12/9. I have just seen them in that 10:30 time frame....fyi
