Just how crazy is Memorial Day Weekend?

Gang, I have adjusted my vacation recently and I didn't realize that the time I was arriving during the Memorial Day Weekend since it's not a holiday up here. :scared1::scared1: Should I be scared?? Just how bad is it? LOL I am contemplating if we want to do anything offsite we may want to do it those first few days of vacation :lmao:

However that being said, I was able to get a Standard Studio for my whole vacation at BLT at the 10 mos mark... I am hoping that is a good sign...

Memorial Day is not tradionally a time when people take long vacations. There are parades that end at cemetaries where we remember those who died in military combat. There are lots of backyard barbeques and people traditionaly open their pools. It is a three day weekend for most. There may be more daytrippers than normal but the crowds should not be to big.

We have been there that week the last two years and the crowds levels have not seemed much if any larger to us, the weekend of Memorial day.

We noticed a slight increase in crowds for that Saturday and Sunday but not much. The rest of the time surrounding those days was no different than our early May vacations.

I agree with this. We usually arrive the Friday before & stay through the Saturday after, allowing us 7 full days in the parks. We have always found the crowds to be bigger on Sat & Sun but then they thin out. Even at the higher level, they are still completely manageable. Just do rope drop & use fast passes. Have a great trip!

We have been there three times during the Memorial Day weekend - typically arrive the day of. I don't find the crowds that bad despite schools being out. However, this past trip in May/June 2010 was the hottest I have ever been in my life and we will not return at that time again until the kids are older (they were 20 months and 4 1/2). It was painfully hot - more so than usual.

Thanks again guys, I feel much better knowing it won't be crazy. :)

We often go in Aug/Sept so I wager May/June is similar to that?

:lmao: We seem to also go during weather extremes. HOT HOT HOT or during a State of Emergency cold spell. :lmao:

I was in WDW Memorial Day weekend this year. The Saturday and Sunday were super busy. By Monday it started to thin out and the rest of the week had low crowds.

We went over Memorial Day about 6 years ago - had just spent a week on the beach and tacked 3 days on at POP. Went to MK on the Sunday morning... got there at the wrong time (10:30AM). Took our time heading down mainstreet and got to Dumbo by 11:00. Spent an hour holding my 1 year old son to go on that; grabbed a FP for Peter Pan (return 4:30), then waited 40 min for Pooh. We were exhausted after that and left to our room to rest. Spent several hours in the pool then got back on the bus to go back to MK around 6:00.

The bus got HIT so the police came to fill the report and another bus came for us to switch to. Wasn't too long, but we got to MK around 7:15. Found out we could use our PP FastPass (hooray), and when the parade started at 8:00 everything thinned out. We actually had a great few hours, then watched the late parade. When my DS stood up and clapped for Mickey I became hooked on DisneyWorld. That being said, we decided NOT to go to the parks again that trip. We roamed POP and swam and such and had a blast.

We wrote it off as our 'starter trip', to be learned from. We go every year now, but in Jan and Feb. I would NOT do Memorial Day weekend ever again since my DH refuses to wake up early to hit ropedrop - we are later night people instead I guess (and actually evening is a nice time to be at the parks).

I was there the same time (30th May - June 4th) and it was sooo HOT! I grew up in S. Florida and it don't remember it being that hot so early. It really was painfully hot. The crowds weren't too bad. I would go again if I knew it wasn't going to be so hot.
