Just how crazy is Memorial Day Weekend?

Not being from the US I didn't realize when I adjusted my next vacation that I have us arriving during the Memorial Day weekend! Should I be worried about crowds from your experience?

I had been hoping at 7 mos to maybe get a Boardwalk View room at BWV but now I am not so certain I'll have any luck realizing I am coming in on a long weekend. I'd appreciate any and all positive thoughts my way.

We went over Memorial Day weekend in 2009 & thought it was fine. I mean, it's busy 'cuz there's also Star Wars weekends around then. But we didn't think it was any worse than when we go in the summer. It was also still Flower & Garden Festival that year. Certainly nothing like over Spring Break / Easter! THOSE crowds are insane!! I have been thinking about planning to go then again next year for Memorial Day but probably won't (too much $$$ for park tix - last time we had AP's). But we would do it again without hesitation if we could cover the tix. IMO you'll be fine. It won't be DEAD though. Not sure about getting BWV...I would have a plan B just in case...

We arrived on the Sunday before Memorial Day and checked into OKW. We had a one bedroom villa. They had very few to offer us and said they were booked up solid. We got a pretty good villa in the end (quiet and the end of the cul de sac and along the Trumbo Canal). But things were hectic at the Hospitality House.

There is a free dinning promotion starting on the 27th so my guess is that they have not found the crowds to be that big durring that time. I hope not at least. We will be arriving on the 22nd and leaving on the 30th.

Yeah we are checking in on the 27th... oh well I'll get what I can get. I won't be upset if all that is left is a Pref/Pool view... honestly I won't I have BLT booked already for the whole vacation so I do have a 'backup' in that sense.
