Just how bad is Sept?

oops, just saw you said the week of Labor Day. I think it will be more crowded than normal the first week of Sept because Labor Day is so late this year, and many schools will start after LD, so lots of families will go the first week of Sept.

Average high is about 89 degrees, with probably about 80% humidity.

We love Disney in September (late September), but for us, the heat is part of the fun. Pools feel awesome in the evening, and the hot weather extends the summer for us, coming from Michigan.

Our only trip where is was just too dang hot was in 2011, when it was 93-95 every day, and literally 90% humidity. That was frickin hot!!!! Like dripping sweat standing still hot.

Still an awesome time though. Disney has lots of shade, and lots of air conditioned buildings.

It's hot, but nowhere near unbearable. The heat doesn't bother me... but the rainy nights can get a little tiring, though.

This September was sooooo rainy. I hated it. DH won't go back in September now.

We normally go in Nov., Dec., or Feb. Due to a great deal we are looking at maybe going the week of labor day. The crowd levels don't look bad at all but how hot is it? We are from Missouri and it can be really hot and humid here during the summers in the 90's sometimes so hot when you walk outside it catches your breath and you sweat non-stop. Is it that hot?:crazy2:

Any input on the pros and cons of this time would be great. Thanks!

We went to DW during Sept. In 2012 and 2013. It was soooooooooo hot. It is like a wall of heat.

In 2014 we went mid June. Everyone told us it would be just as hot and it definitely was not! If you do not like the heat and have no other choice but to go during Sept, then check all the threads offering tips for the heat. They have so many great tips and that is what we used to get through it.

We are going the Sept 7th this year - we love going this time of year despite the heat. In 2013 we got the free dining promotion and the crowds were low. We survive the heat by drinking lots of water, wearing hats, lots of sunscreen and taking air conditioned breaks. :)

It's still hot in September. We went last year from Aug 27-Sep 2, and the heat was bearable but uncomfortable. It got up in the 90s, but we just took frequent afternoon breaks. Mornings and evenings were fine. The crowds, though, were awesome.

This photo was taken during the middle, busiest part of the day at MK on August 28. Labor Day was even less crowded. It's definitely worth the heat.

We will never go back to WDW in September again. The heat, the humidity and the rain just weren't worth the suffering. And it is too much money to spend to be ducking into air conditioned buildings and running from rain showers. And the humidity just sucked the energy right out of us. Now October was the opposite. We had fantastic weather in October and the same decorations and F&W and MNSSHP were still going on, too.

While the weather is not great we have really enjoyed the crowd levels. I would do it again for the crowd levels

September in Orlando is like vacationing on the sun... did it once in '07, never again... 95 and humid at 9am...no thanks...

I will be honest and say low crowds or not, you couldn't pay me to go back in September. The heat just seemed to suck all the life out of my family (and we are from Kentucky so it's not like it isn't hot/humid here), and everyone was just done by 11-12 every day.

I couldn't agree with you more. We thought that we would love to be able to swim all the time and we only had to pack shorts etc. My husband will never go back in September. It was 95 degrees with 98% humidity. You were miserable the moment you walked out of your hotel door. The kids also rode the entire time in the stroller. They were wiped. I have to say that the crowds were not low enough to have us want to go back. November was great weather and low crowds.

We have a september trip planned(18-27). We went in June(15-22) for our last trip and it was 105 with the heat index every day of our trip. It also rained multiple times a day every day of our trip. I figure our Sept trip will be just like that, but hoping for less crowds. It wasn't bad crowd wise in June and it looks like crowd calendars have June and Sept about the same, but from what I read Sept. is better(if that pp picture is an indicator we will have lower crowds)...so keeping my fingers crossed that is true. Plus we want to do MNSSHP so that will be a bonus :goodvibes I'd rather be in WDW when it is really hot, than in winter when it is chilly. We went in Feb. and March(pre kids) and I don't want to be on vacation anywhere that drops into the 50's at night and I even had to wear a sweatshirt a lot during the day.

Our recent trip (Sept 13-20) was seriously so hot. We're from Pennsylvania though so the mid-90's with humidity for the entire trip was not something we are used to. We got up early and did a mid-day break, returning to the parks in the evening. That seemed to really help us. The crowds were great though, we really got a lot done in a short amount of time most days. It was a great time to vacation for us since most kids were back in school and the crowds were low! I wouldn't hesitate to go again during that time, but I'd do it knowing I'd probably have to schedule mid-day breaks.

We've scheduled our 2014 trip for late Oct/early November this year. I'm looking forward to seeing the differences in temp/humidity and in crowds.

We went this past Sept. It was so HOT and so HUMID but we managed. We used Frogg Toggs and drank lots of water. I prefer April but I wouldn't hesitate booking a Sept. trip.

Totally agree. Our trip was the tail end of September into the beginning week of October. As soon as we hit October it was like an entirely different trip! Almost zero rain which in turn made it feel much less humid in my opinion. Still hot, but the heat doesn't bother me much.

It hit 100 degrees one day there in September.

Hot hot hot :beach: but I love going in septmeber due to the cheaper rates, plus I would gladly battle the heat and love bugs over crowds. :crazy2:
