Just Heard - Magic Is Going To Test Staggered Dining Times

I don't know about anyone else but this change does not sound great. I am also hoping for the 6:15 time. Definetly not the 5:45 it is hard enough to get there by 6!

I talked with my TA today and he said that there was no option to be added at a certain time (at this point)....I will not like dining at 5:45 and will switch to late if that is what we end up with - I think 6 is bad enough!

we had the staggered times on CCL.
Really, does 15 minutes make that much of a difference? I'm sure it does help out the servers and the kitchen. It will also be nice not having everyone crowd into the dining rooms all at once. You end up staggered anyway most times, you just aren't aware of it.
We do food and beverage for a large convention center, I wish we could stagger out guests dining times!

to me 15 min makes a lot of diff...especially when our normal dining time is 7-7:30.....it's bad enough to have to be there by 6!

Can't you switch to the 8:00 seating? The early ones are the most popular, you shouldn't have a problem switching to the later one.

I am sure I could but we have two little that I would like to eat dinner with:)

and I think the 15 min will makes a ton of difference on port days as well.

Just an observation...if lillygater were to switch to late seating, she might not get the 8 pm rotation, she has a one in three chance of that. In addition, there is a reason that they do some groupings for rotations - like older teens generally have one rotation, etc....it means that your table mates might better match your family. While I am not sure it makes a huge difference (especially if you have linked reservations to another family already)...to some cruisers, it might.

My recommendation, wait a bit until we have enough posts to somewhat reliably identify which rotation goes with which time. Then request that rotation that is connected with the time slot you want. I know a request does not mean that it will happen but it seems it improves your odds. When you check in at the port and see your KTW cards, you could go to the designated location to request a different rotation if you didn't get what you requested, verifying the actual time of dinner at that point.

My guess is that DCL phone reps know that there are different rotations but may not realize that the rotations WILL have a time associated with them. Luckily, we have the boards and can put the two pieces of info together

Hope this makes sense

Not sure how I feel about this. I like second dining, but 8:30 is a tad too late.

I asked my TA, DU, to put in a specific request of my dining time preference: 6:15.....5:45 is just toooo early, that extra half hour would help us alot and necessary for cleaning up after a day in port. She called DCL and attached the request to our reservation. She said that DCL doesn't guarantee the request, but will most certainly try to honor it. So, in a couple weeks, I guess we'll see.
