A little background that is relevant to this story...DS has been in Cub Scouts for 4 years..scout honor, salute, oath...the whole nine yards.
We had school off today and were going to have lunch with my sister. She's an ultrasound tech at a medical clinic. We were walking into the clinic and there was an elderly gentleman walking towards the door with his wife; he was using a walker.
My kids held the doors open for them (without being asked, the little darlings)...DD held the outer door and DS held the inner door. As the elderly gentleman was about to pass my DS, my DS saluted him. The man stopped and said to my son, "There's no way you could have known that I was in the Army for 37 years." He seemed touched that this 10 year old kid saluted him.
Then he turned to me and said, "You are raising your kids right." I just about started bawling my eyes out; I didn't do anything.
Just wanted to say I am pretty proud of my DS. I don't know why he felt impelled to salute today. What a wonderful boy.
