We just had an earth tremor

I was up late watching the baseball and the whole settee started shaking

My god Tim - I just heard about this on the radio - must have been pretty weird

Yes - just been seeing a few snippets on GMTV.

A seismologist (sp?) from Edinburgh Uni they interviewed was totally unphased by it - wasn't "excited or worried". But then I guess he's up there and you're all in the middle of the country . . .

...... heard about this on the radio! Tremors seemed to have been quite widespread as they were felt down in St Albans ( Herts) but thankfully I heard no-one was hurt.

Anyone else feel it?

Really strong here - felt 2 distinct tremors and loud rumblings. Kids, dogs and cat all woke up and now there are no birdies out today - really weird as it is soo quiet.

4.8 on the Richter, apparently the worst one recorded in England

There was one in warwick almost 2 years ago, that we got as well. Thought we didn't get them here??

Well I must be a really heavy sleeper, as I never heard or felt a thing:Pinkbounc I wasn't even drinking the night before !!!! My mum and dad live round the corner and it woke both of them up, they thought someone was trying to break into the house

Plus everyone at work is talking about it and how it woke them up, just my luck, I always miss the exciting things....

The midlands seem to have had a few in the last 10 years or so for some reason.

4.9! Ahhhhh! That's just a tremor. Next you'll be telling us that you had a tornado! ;)

Seriously, I'm glad everyone is fine. Been through a couple, they're very scary!

I live about 10 miles from the centre of the quake!!! It woke me up so it had to be big, i'd been travelling for about 20 hours before so i was out for the count. very strange, it felt like a car had crashed into the side of my house. Glad to hear everyone is ok.

I was terrified! Everything was shaking and rumbling - first of all I thought it was Matt out of bed and then I realised the house was shaking a bit too much even for him, LOL! Here's how it went in our house:

Me Sits bolt upright What's that?!
Matt Lifts head wearily from pillow Don't know.
Me Is it an earth tremor?
Mirrors on ceiling ... oops, did I say ceiling, I meant wall of course! :o ... rattle and then everything becomes still
Matt Yeah.
Me What do you mean - yeah? I'm scared!
Matt Relax and go back to sleep.
Me Put the telly on - they might have nuked GCHQ!
Matt zzzzzzzzzzz. YES HE WAS SNORING!

Wow, it scared the living daylights out of me!! We were also still up, I don't even know what my first thoughts were as I was terrified!! I thought it was a bomb :( The last thing I expected was an earthquake tremor. We're about 15 miles from Dudley so also felt the tremors quite strongly. Eek!!

We felt it in Manchester, my 29 year old son thought that someone was under his bed shaking it!

I live about half a mile from Brick Kiln Lane where it happened. A bit weird, the wife was panicing a bit, What can I do dear I said.
