and it went like this- (DD15 is at a sleepover at a friend's house)

Me- "Hello?"
DD- "Hi, mom. Could you do me a favor?"
Me- "What is it?"
DD- "Could you find my i-pod for me?"
Me- "I guess so, where is it?"
DD- "I don't know exactly, but it's probably somewhere in my room."
Me- (I go to her room and search everywhere and finally locate the i-pod)- "OK, I have it."
DD- "Now can you find the list of songs on it?"
Me- (After much fumbling with buttons, wheels, etc.)- "OK, got it. Now what."
DD- "Could you type out the playlist of songs and e-mail it to me?"
Me- "You mean sit here and type each song and send it to you? How many songs are on here?"
DD- "There's only four hundred. It shouldn't take you too long."
Me- (After laughing hysterically)- "You are kidding, right?"
DD- "No, will you send them?"

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh, aren't kids funny! She finally saw the humor in it and realized I wasn't going to type out four hundred songs and e-mail them to her! Geez!

Geez mom.....its not like there were 500.

And she thought you loved her. HA!

Okay, I'm behind on uploading-I've only got 326 songs on here so far!

OMG!! I can so understand that! My DD does stuff like this all the time
:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

sure, I'll forgo sleep tonight! :rotfl2:

I wanted the iPod to walk with-and I realized today that I do need to make a list of the albums that I've got on it...not going to do songs, though! It's easy if I start it now-29 albums-far better than listing all those songs.

Tell DD she should start typing the list when she gets home tomorrow!

Suzanne

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Well, that sounds a lot like MY 15 yo dd. I'm impressed you were able to FIND the iPod in her room. I swear, my dd seems to think that if she's not around, I'm sitting in a little bottle like Jeanie, just waiting to do her bidding should she need me. :rotfl:

She's at her dad's for 2 weeks for Christmas break and called me the other day. "You went to a movie WITHOUT me?" Well, yeah. Call me crazy, I got to see a movie that I wanted to see. "I called your cell phone 4 times and you didn't answer it." I was in the basement doing laundry--I didn't really see the need to cart my cell phone around the house with me. :rotfl: You'd have thought I was ignoring her because I was busy at the crackhouse or something. I'm not supposed to DO anything if she's not here.

Teenagers are so fun sometimes!

My DD would have asked me to drive it over to her :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: (that wouldn't have happened, either !!)

Can I tell you that they don't get any better. My DD is 33 and if she gets me on my cell phone she's like "where are you?" (said with an attitide) and no matter where I'm at she always says "well thanks for asking me to go" (with, ofcourse, the same attitude!) Daughters, they are special, aren't they?

That's what I thought she was going to ask.

Anyway, you are better than me. I can't even turn my DD's iPod on.

That's sounds something like my 14 DD might do.
The only thing is wehen she asked to find herv Ipod in her home, I would have had to start laughing right then. Her room looks like garbage dump!

Ummmmm.....
Unless you really want to keep her (or yourself) busy....
to get a list or the songs on the ipod, open up itunes on the computer. Unless she loaded some songs from a different computer, all the songs on her ipod should be on her playlist and/or in the library on itunes.

Check the File menu and the last item in it should be Print.
When you choose that, the window that open up will give you a choice of what to print - it can be the whole library, a listing of the songs or a listing of the albums. The listings can be from the whole library or just one playlist. I was able to look at the list by choosing "Print" from the second window and then "Preview" from the window that came up after. I could have also saved the page as a pdf file (I have Apple computers and don't know if that is available on the Windows version).

The more information that was "attached" to each song when you downloaded it to itunes, the more information will be available. If you are connected to the internet while downloading songs to itunes, it automatically searches an internet database and adds information to the itunes list. Sometimes there is no information available on that "album", sometimes it's really complete, even to the songwriters (which means if you want to listen to/sort songs by only one compuser, you can).

Your post reminds me of yesterdays Zits comic. He asked his mom for a favor and it would have taken her all day!!

powellrj - I'm with you. I often think that as our DD got older, our life went from one "Baby Blues" cartoon after another to one big "Zits" episode! ;)

:earseek: You lost me back at "...open up itunes on the computer..."

I could never do all that!

Well, I'll admit I was getting frustrated just wading through the stuff strewn all over her room! And I could hear the irritation growing in her voice when I couldn't immediately locate her iPod. :rotfl:

Show it to your DD. She should know what it means.
If you really want to impress her, tell her you figured it out all by yourself.
:rotfl2:

Why don't you just type it all up on the DIS? That way next time she asks, you can just refer her here. While we're doing that, why don't yall type up your lists here? 500 songs won't take you long, right? I wanna see what type of music yall have.

:rotfl2: My mom would have laughed at me as soon as I asked her to find it in my room and we would never have gotten as far as type up the songs and e-mail them to me. LOL.

Teen dd's - gotta love 'em. DD17 spent 6 hours at the mall with the new boyfriend yesterday. When she got back, I asked her if she had picked up the couple of gifts that she needs for a party tomorrow. "No Mom - I thought maybe you could go do that."

What is really bad is that I STILL can't drive from my broken ankle/surgery in October - so her mom who is on crutches & can't drive a car is supposed to go shopping for the kid who just spent 6 HOURS at the mall?

Sure - no problem!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I love to read these boards! It is nice to know that I am not the only one with a messy daughter, who sometimes seems to live in a different dimension than her mother. However, she just turned 20 and surprised me at Christmas w/ a speciality tea (she goes to school out of state) that I have only found at the Twinings store in Epcot. I never thought I would have a child that would understand me so well (she knows how much I want to go to WDW, but $ makes it not possible right now, so the tea (Prince of Wales) was sort of a "fond remembrance" of my Laughing Place.)

Thanks for the :rotfl:

Sharon
