Just Got the iPhone 4... Anyone Use MobileMe?

I just picked up my iPhone 4 at the AT&T Store this afternoon and the guy was telling me about MobileMe. I didn't get it but I'm going to look into it more to see if it's something worth purchasing. Does anyone use it? Do you think it's worth $100 a year?

It pretty much depends on what you want to do. I used to use it for calendar/contact syncing over the air. However, I've recently switched over to using Google for these things instead.

One benefit is Find my iPhone which you can't get anywhere else. This is basically why I keep my mobileme account paid up.

One piece of advice, don't buy direct from Apple, you can get a discount from other places, such as Amazon.

MobileMe is a great tool when you have kids with iPhones, specifically find my iPhone. It's also an easy way to sync contacts & bookmarks between ipads & iPhones. I also don't like to use a lock code, it gives me piece of mind knowing that if I lose my phone I can lock it or wipe it clean from anywhere.

I found it to be a total waste of money as Google offers all the same features (except findme) for free and if you use it and then decide not to renew you have to take the time to sync and move your contacts and your calendar. What I have read though is when you do that, not everything actually syncs and you end up spending lots of time fixing it.

As for findme, there are apps out there that do the same thing based on an article I just read on CNN about a week ago. I will admit I haven't actually looked at the apps yet, just know what CNN said.

As a PC user the appeal is not there as I use Outlook for my email/contacts. If I had a mac this would be more appealing. The only draw to Mobile me is find my phone. I would happily pay a fraction for the find my phone service.

The only reason I would get it is for the Find Me feature. I don't really need anything to sync my contacts and calendar....

I have it and I like it very much.

I suppose it is possible to do all the stuff (except Find Me) some other way...but I didn't have to learn about it. I just do the Mobile Me.

Required no learning and no effort on my part and it works well. For me, that's a winner.

I use it and like it. I like synching and that they host my Webpages, etc. Find my Phone is a new added bonus.

Love mobile me. Use it for all the reasons above plus can sync documents with the iDisk feature. Used it initially with Outlook before I got my Mac but always had issues keeping things up to date. Wouldn't recommend unless you have a Mac. Find my phone feature is great!

It's the same one... I'm not sure why it's so much more expensive at the AT&T store.

I use it mostly for the Find my iPhone feature, something that became even more valuable once it started tracking more than one iPhone since my wife and I both have them. I also occasionally use my iDisk since I have it anyway and all the syncing is with my Google account, which is necessary to keep myself from going insane looking for contact info for the class I TA for.
