just got points today-waitlist question

brand new member- just logged in to see what is available for my trip this spring- 1st and 2nd choices are partial availability only
is there an advantage to book partial nights, over waitlisting the entire stay? (we are an all or nothing family- don't want to break up the stay at different resorts)
is there any disadvantage (I can't think of any ) to booking my 3rd choice which has all nights avail, and then waitlisting my first choice, allowing disney to bump my 3rd choice if the waitlist pulls through?

The more nights you try to match, the worse your odds are.

Nothing like first hand experience as new owner. What you have been reading on the DIS will now take on a whole new meaning.

I suggest you call Member Services.

When we made our first booking, I was told that they try to make sure you receive your first choice for your "Welcome Home Visit."

There are a lot of exceptions. And they can't guarantee anything.

But we were able to book somewhere that was "not available."

Was that for direct or resale purchases? I expect that for direct, but I'd be surprised if they'd do that for resale.

Just saw these replies- my email notification apparently didn't work. So I called member services and booked through them and asked questions as I booked- seemed the least complicated
In the end we are waitlisted at boardwalk villas for 4 of our 9 nights (2 bedroom) in April- being a glass is half full guy I am keeping optimistic
Worst case we cancel and book OKW, AKV etc
Just happy to be a member!
