Just got off the phone w/ CM & she didn't know what the Rehitching Ceremony was?

I just called WDW Dine to ask about the "Rehitching Ceremony" at the Garden Grill and the CM didn't know what I was talking about. But she was very sweet and she kept searching and found a little info.

She said the it's only for Honeymoon, Anniversary and Engagements, and its not during the Ice Cream Social.

Is this true? We celebrated our Anniversary last Dec. in WDW but we didn't know about the "Rehitching Ceremony" and we'd love to give it a try!

Does anyone know if it can be done during the Ice Cream Social (We have PS for the social) or only during regular dining? And are we allowed to do the ceremony since our Anniverary passed?

the CMs usually do not know about the rehitchin' ceremony! odd, isn't it? anyway. i have read where it is done at the ice cream social, but that could have changed. we have done it at the garden grill, both for an anniversary, but not on the actual date. i would suggest that you call back and ask nicely to have it noted on the reservation. good luck!

CMs at Disney Dining will rarely know about this activity. Like Disney Queen suggested, just ask the CM to add a note to your PS -- something like "Rehitching Ceremony requested".

Look at it this way: this is a great opportunity to share some Disney knowledge with them! Then the next time someone calls, they will know about it.

They do the ceremony anytime, including at the Ice Cream Social. I recommend planning an off-peak meal time, so your server isn't rushed and can help you enjoy the ceremony. It does not have to be your honeymoon or actual anniversary date. My DW and I did this for our 25th -- and it was about a month before the actual date.

Also, when you check-in at the Garden Grill, remind the CM who writes your table card that you want to do the "Rehitching Ceremony." Sometimes they might miss the note on your PS, especially if they are busy.

I just experienced the same thing about a week or so ago that the CM didn't know about the Re-Hitching. He was great, though, and called and asked about it taking place during the Ice Cream Social and confirmed that they did, indeed, do it then so we booked for July for our 10th anniversary.

Anything we should know about it? Good chance for nice pictures?, or is it really hokey?

Can't afford to renew vows through Disney Weddings so was hoping this would be a nice alternative!

We were supposed to do the rehitching last week. Our CM/waiter/whatever was not very good at all. When making the PS I requested the ceremony, I went by there earlier that day and confirmed it was on the PS and I even confirmed it with my server. After 2 hours of sitting there, he walked by, dropped a cake on the table and said "happy anniversary" and walked off. This was after only receiving 1 drink, and one serving of the meal. We requested more drinks and more food but did not get anything in our 2 hour stay.

It was not very crowded at all and we saw no reason for the lack of service. But, we did not make a scene. I left almost exact change for the meal, he wasn't even friendly, took the cake and left.
Granted, I know this isn't something that you pay for and I can see that things can happen that they would not be able to do the ceremony. But there was no excuse for the lack of service and rudeness we got from our server.

I hope everyone else does not have any problems doing this.

WE did this last August. I did double check whe we got to Garden Grill, just to make sure it was on our ps request. It was. It was a surprise for my poor dh. It was not our anniversary either. Now...what they did was this...a CM came up and said.."So, I understand someone here needs to get rehitched?" my dh said 'no, you must be mistaken.' "No, don't think I am." Well, I tell poor dh that yes, it is us to be rehitched!! So, we have to stand up, the CM loudly announces to all within earshot that since none of us were invited to the first wedding, this nice couple is doing it again for us. He recites some vows, we say I do and then we kiss. Be sure to take a deep breath. Then he gave us a certificate. Now, I heard that sometimes the characters take part in the ceremony. I had also heard that a cake was given. We had no cake or characters. But it was cute. Now, if my dd had only activated the flash on the camera it would have been perfect!!

Last week when I made our PS for the Ice Cream Social I asked about the rehitching and was told they no longer do it at the ice cream social, only lunch or dinner. Of course the CM didn't know what it was and had to ask her supervisor about it. If they are doing it at the Ice Cream SOcial still will somebody let me know so I can call back and have it noted on our PS? THank you.

Thanks for all the info! I was posting w/ another Dis'er on another thread and she told me to just let the CM know and ask to put it on PS notes anyway. And I did, the CM was nice about, she again didn't know about it but she noted it anyway.

It just sounds so fun y'know? So I'm looking foward to it and I hope it turns out well! I'm going to call WDW Dine again probably next week to see if it was noted. (Don't want to be a nag, but I'm just paranoid like that...sometimes... )

How funny, I was just coming to this board to post the very same thing!

I just called for PS for the Ice Cream Social for our 10th anniversary and requested that the CM make a Rehitchin' Ceremony note on the PS. The CM said something like, "I've never heard of that--I think you need to speak to our wedding department about vow renewal ceremonies"! I told her what I'd heard about the Rehitchin' Ceremony and she said she'd "take my word for it" and she made a note on the PS.

I think I will call back and see if I can get some more information, particularly on whether or not they will do the ceremony during the Ice Cream Social. We'll see!

I'm pretty sure the rehitching ceremony is only at the Garden Grill. If you let the CM know that you're celebrating an occassion, most the time, they give you a special treat. But w/ this ceremony I think it's only at the Garden Grill.

I guess I am really lucky! We did the rehitching ceremony Oct 2003. We had Mickey and Goofy at the ceremomy and we got a cake and a certificate and a CM took photos for us and DD(5) took video. I wish I could post those photos, I need to find out how to do that!

I had the CM (who had never heard of this) add this to our PS. When I arrived, I sent DH to the bathrooms with kids and I reminded the front desk that I had requested it. I also told them that it was our 15th wedding anniversary. Which it was. Our whole side of the restaurant got involved, it was a highlight of our trip. I highly recommend it!

Don't be too hard on CM's. There is a tremendous amount of information about Disney to absorb and it is constantly changing.
