Just got off the phone with a CM at AKL and with Customer Service.
I dialed directly to AKL and she said that my room will not be affected(pool view) but that she would connect me with customer service.
Got customer service on the line and they immediately said yes, I will need to be moved and they would move us to SSR for $107 per night. I asked if the whole resort will be closed and she said no that a small percentage of the rooms will remain open, all the restaurants, room service, the pool etc will remain open as well. I asked well then why do I need to be moved if you are leaving some rooms open, I asked if I could stay and she said "of course" The cm went on to tell me that there will be construction noise from 9am-5pm daily (i don't know about weekends) and that I may be able to hear the noise, but if it didn't bother me than I am welcome to stay. I again confirmed with her that all the restaurants, room service (very important to me) and especially the pool will remain open and she again said yes! So I have decided to stay for now, she said I am welcome to call back anytime if i change my mind but that she could not guarantee what resort I would be moved to. At this time, she said the only resorts they could move me to are SSR (cheaper rate of course) or BC/YC(same rate). I have stayed at BC last August so I think I will stay at AKL for now. I asked the CM that perhaps the pool, etc will be less crowded at AKL and she said yes, definitely.
So, I guess my advice to those wavering about staying at AKL right now would be to wait if they call and if you don't mind the daytime construction noise, then I would say stay. The resort will definitely be less crowded. I know for our family, we will be out and about by 9am and probably not back to the resort before 5pm so I hope to not be affected at all by the construction.
One more thing, I asked what trail they are doing construction on and she said Kudu--who knows for sure?! Anyone?!! If I have a pool view, what
trail(s) do you think I will be at?
