Hi
so we just got our log in to the DVC site new members at VGF. We have never booked yet. Waiting on points to load but doing some advanced planning for when points load. So I looked at dates we want in November. There is no availability at VGF and it says waitlist available. There are other choices we would be happy with but my question is this. If I book a stay elsewhere and waitlist the VGF and that comes thru do they cancel my other reservation and give me the VGF? Or do I have to cancel the existing and accept the waitlist.

also, it looks like there are some days and I could do a split stay. If I do that does it put it all together for me as one reservation in the website or do I have to book 2 reservations?

Any guidance on booking is appreciated as I’m excited

If you own at VGF, you have to wait to book something elsewhere until you get to the 7 month mark.

If you don’t own at VGF, then you cannot waitlist until 7 months out.

If you do book something else, you can set up the waitlist for VGF to cancel that and replace what you booked.

If you can book some days now at VGF, and waitlist the rest,...in this case, you would not choose to replace as it’s different dates.

If it fills, it will be a different reservation but you can then call MS and they will make it one providing both are the same room size and view.

thanks. One more question if you don’t mind please. It looks like it’s allowing me to waitlist VGF my home resort even though my points aren’t loaded yet? If it lets me should I do it so I’m in line or just wait until my points load?

Since you have your account, I’d waitlist and give MS a call, and ask them to see if they can get them loaded quickly for you since you have that in place!

There's no harm in creating a waitlist now. At the very worst, your waitlist comes thru before your points load. If that happens and Member Services cancels your waitlist due to a lack of points, you're no worse off than you would be if you didn't create a waitlist at all. BUT if availability loosens up at some point after your points load, you're that much higher on the list.

FWIW, you might want to consider two wait lists...one for the first half of your stay and the other for the second half. Shorter waitlists have a greater chance of success. Then, if only one of those comes through before 7 months, you can book the remaining nights at a non-home resort while still holding a spot ahead of others on the waitlist for those VGF nights.
