Just got laid off.

Well, at least they gave you warning. Around here they give you 15 minutes to pack your desk before being escourted out of the building. 3 weeks notice is unheard of!

Good luck!
::yes::

Good luck in your search.

Anytime is a crappy time to get laid off...but now before the holidays. I'm sorry to hear that. :guilty:

Good luck, and I hope you find something soon! :grouphug:

I'm so sorry.

I hope something better comes along for you soon! :wizard:

I've been at this job for 3 1/2 months. I love my job. I got called in to the VP of finance's office this afternoon and was told they are keeping me until 12/15. Merry Christmas to me. They'll understand if I leave earlier though if I find something. Since I haven't been here long enough, I don't get severence or anything. I guess I'll spend sometime calling employment agencies.

Oh no!! I'm really sorry about that, especially right before Christmas. At least they let you know in advance so you can start looking. Good luck with everything!! :grouphug:

I'm so sorry to hear that. I have been downsized once, and it wasn't fun. But keep your chin up--something new and good will work out for you.

That's such a shame.
I am sorry.

Look at it as if it is a 'fork in the road' and fate is leading you to something even better!!

Better days ahead :thumbsup2

I was a Tech Support contractor, working at a place which although we spoke of me being hired on, decided to hire someone 'bi-lingual' and I got let go the weekend of Thanksgiving. Also "Merry Christmas to me" I was so worried.

I got the job Im at now, during the 2 weeks notice they gave me. I started the Monday after Thanksgiving.

This is THE best job I have ever had - PLUS, I'm making more money that that contract position, and the people are AMAZING AND WONDERFUL!!

So, happy thoughts - everything happens for a reason!! :wizard:

I'm a project accountant. The world is full of us!!

But there's only one YOU!!! I'm sure you'll find a good match soon. I'd offer my help in the search, but I doubt you are ready to move this far north. pixiedust:

Ugh been there...was told my contract was not being renewed for next school year...told in march and had to work till June under what can best be described as uncomfortable conditions. :( (An i was just a few weeks back from maternity leave to boot..oh and was forced to 'resign' or get no reccomendations when looking for another job..so no unemployment or severence here either)
at the time it was the worst thing to ever happen..but now i think it was a blessing as I have found a new path and place and am happier than i have been in YEARS!
heres to finding a better job, better pay and much happiness!

I LOVE your kitty in your Sig TinkNH!!! So tempted to steal it ... but I wont.

I have too many layoff/company closing stories to tell, well, just two really, but it all boils down to the same thing. It stinks.

So sorry to hear of the pending unemployment OP... even with advance notice it still stinks. :grouphug:

Sorry that bites :grouphug:
I went through that about six yrs ago and it led me to a better job with better hours making more money and I heard the person who laid me off was "down sized". Truly, what goes around will come around. :thumbsup2

This is a tough time of year to be looking. Stay as long as you can (benefits, pay, etc.) and stick it out. You never know, things may change.

Best of luck to you and your search for the right job!

I am so sorry. Companies always seem to pick the holidays to lay off people. DH was laid off 2 years ago at the same time of year. He did find something better. I hope you find something even better. Take care.

I am so sorry to hear this. Try to look on the bright side, at least you have over a month to find something else. :grouphug:

Now, if I can make you smile....I must be super tired, because I read the title of this thread, but missed the word "off". So, think how shocked I was for the split second for me to realize you had one more word in there. I really thought you were sharing just a little TMI! :lmao:

Good luck to you! I got laid off about 4 months ago, from a job that I also loved. It's no fun.

It happened to me a few years ago. Stings I know, but it did open doors for me. It will happen to you as well.

Hang in there :goodvibes
