It was a pretty good movie. I don't get the beef with what critics said about it... Of course, critics tend to like art-house movies that only 4 ppl in a village in France has seen... :rolleyes1

Now I have to read the book...lol :rotfl:

Even if you didn't buy into the dogma, it was a great detective story. It provocate some 'what if' questions in my head too.. So I did some of my own research.. and found out basically.. Gnostic Christianity is... to put it bluntly.. weird..:scared: almost Kabalah-ish. I'll go back to my regularly scheduled view of metaphysics now thank you very much..

I read the book first & then saw the movie. I enjoyed the movie, but thought it may have been hard to follow if you didn't read the book first.

You seemed to enjoy it though & have not read the book, so maybe I'm wrong about that! :rotfl:

Sorry I have to agree with the critics - I didn't like the movie but I loved the book. I might have enjoyed it better had I not read the book before I saw it. Reading the book though I never pictured Tom Hanks as Langdon and that pretty much ruined it for me - lol

See, the deal is the movies stinks, IMO, comapred to the book. Had I never read the book, I might have thought the ovie was "ok", and not horrible! ;)

Saw movie, liked it so much I read the book(which was OK).

Angels and Demons lends itself to being a better movie, it has a little more action mixed in with the same type of great detective story.

Like others, I loved the book but can't imagine I would have followed the movie well if I hadn't read the book.

I saw the movie in MAY and just came from the LOURVE....it just is so absolutely fabulous. I hope everyone can visit the LOUVRE one day.:goodvibes

Walked right up to MONA LISA and starred right at her and she did stare back at me.:goodvibes

Thought the book was okay (poor writing) but thought the movie was terrible. Talk about horrible acting! Tom Hanks was wasted in it, IMO, and a total dud of a character. I was glad I had read the book prior, too, since the movie is so butchered.

I think you'll find the book to be much better - at least I hope so!

I just got the book but haven't read it yet. Haven't seen the movie, either.

Are there any scary parts? I know its suspenseful but I dont like watching scary/gory movies. Anybody have comments about that?

Just wondering. :)

I did not find it scary at all, but the villian is really really creepy....:sad2:

DS and I listened to the book on CD while driving from Calif. to Texas in July. We loved it. I can't picture Tom Hanks in that character though and still haven't seen the movie. We also listened to "Wicked". Now that was a book!! Very involved and I can't imagine they put all of it in the stage production. No way. There's a lot of stuff you would never want your kids to see. Uhh! Uhh! It's so wordy I could never have read it. Sorry to hi-jack and throw this in. :)

I liked both the book and the movie. I enjoy the mystery of it all though.

i read the book before i watched the movie. and when i was reading the book, the codex that they found and were trying to decifer....took CHAPTERS AND CHAPTERS AND CHAPTERS to figure out and then ......well i won't get into too much detail but when they opened it, i stopped reading it for about 3 months because i got so angry lol.

but then they announced the movie was coming out, so i had to read it.

i thought both the book and the movie were very good. i enjoyed it. i don't get what critics saw wrong with it, either. the only thing i didn't like, i don't think Tom Cruise portrayed how they wrote his character in the book. he still played him good, but he didn't look a thing like him.

the Gnostic religion isn't that bad. they're a bit more leniant(sp?? sorry!) than the Christian religion is, but i really haven't read too much into it.

Wicked is actually a VERY good play. it's one of my favorites. i haven't gotten thru all of the book yet, but they omitted a lot of not so kid friendly parts from the play.

Enjoyed the book as fluff--but the movie, well it was so bad I turned it off after a 1/2 hour two separate times.

I really enjoyed the book, and thought the movie was okay, maybe a 5 out of 10. I always tend to enjoy the book much more than the movie. I think we all develop our own images of what the characters and places look like, and for me the movie is always different than my imagination. For example, I would never of pictured Tom Hanks as the Harvard professor. Hanks is an exceptional actor, but in this movie I thought he tanked. Also, a lot of times there are changes in what happened in the book and what happens in the movie.

I do agree with the other poster about Angel and Demons. I really enjoyed the book, and I think it would turn out to be a better movie, but the lead role needs to be recast.

Same here.....

I didn't like the book (but I'm not into conspiracy theories in general), but haven't had a chance to see the movie, yet. Will rent it sometime this winter.

Ummmm...Tom Cruise wasn't in The Da Vinci Code. Maybe you are referring to Tom Hanks who had the lead role as Langdon. I like Tom Hanks but he was not right for this role. Totally not who I pictured when I read the book.
