Well, I thought that since our vacation is only a week away that we were safe with our AKL reservation. But our AAA TA just called to say that Disney would like us to move. Same story - they are moving faster than anticipated with the construction and need to move some people. She did also say that Disney told her that they had to move some of the animals.

They offered SSR(with money back), but I asked her to call them and ask for Polynesian or Yacht Club(same price as AKL). They said O.K. to both of those! We chose Yacht Club for the pool. The kids begged for it and even though I would have loved to stay at the Polynesian we thought that the pool will be great when it is so hot out. We have stayed at the Beach Club before and decided to try the Yacht Club this time.

I am a little sad that we won't be able to stay at the AKL - we love WL and thought that AKL would probably give us that same feeling. But the upgrade is nice too. Now I just need to try to change some ADR's, we planned on going to BOMA twice and JIKO once, we will change some of these to YC or Epcot restaurants.

Once again the DIS has come through. After reading all of the threads on the boards I knew this was a possibility and we had time to think through what we would do before the call even came. Thanks everyone!

Our TA was so surprised that I knew what she was going to say before she even said it!!

Congrats, I'm sure you'll have a great trip!!!!

Does anyone know when the construction will be completed-- approximately? Will it affect a January 2008 trip?

Thanks

The construction inside the AKL was originally expected to be completed by May 2008, but it sounds like Disney may be ahead of schedule.

The construction of the new Kidani Village buildings won't be compelted until early 2009.

It's supposed to be done by the end of September

I'm sorry you had to move, but at least you were prepared and able to get an awesome upgrade! I hope you and your family have a great time at YC

Awesome upgrade! What kind of room did you have reserved at AKL? You've stayed at BC, so I don't need to tell you how great that area is to stay in. Have fun!

Thanks! We had a Savannah View reserved - going to a water view at the Yacht Club.

We decided to switch as well. We had a Savannah view at AKL but switched to Poly and will probably get an upgrade. I am a little disapointed and hope the Poly doesnt dissapoint us. I was wondering why you all chose YC? We were offered that but I never hear much about it and didnt think it was even a comparison to Poly. There arent a lot of pictures out there for YC.

YC for the pool and location to EPCOT. Poly for the monorail and location to MK and EPCOT. I was offered both of them too and selected the Poly because we are staying at the BC for Part 2 of this trip. I think you made a good choice.

We were upgraded out of AKL and actually BC or YC was our preference due to the pool for the kids. The grown ups, however, are more than happy to tough it out at the GF!

We got the call to and were offered anything that was available. I took GF and considered that an awesome upgrade- although they wouldn't budge on anything more than Garden View. I am feeling slightly guilty though that I didn't take YC for the pool. DH & I are childless but we take my 8 yr old nephew each year and the grown-up in me couldn't resist the opp to stay at GF and ea at V&A for the first time. Oh, well, what he doesn't know won't hurt him. Too cute though, when I told him we wouldn't be able to stay at AKL this year (we've been every year for past 5 yrs), he said "that's okay- that means there will be new stuff at AKL to see next time we go if they are doing building!".

Those of you who got the latest moves, when approximately are your stays? I'm so scared Ill be moved.

08/15 to 08/19 to garden view Poly. Worked out to $168.34 with tax for 3 adults, yahoo! The Disney Gods were looking out for us.

We had standard view and was bumped to BC (2nd week of August). We were offered SSR at first then the CM checked all Deluxe resorts for us. BC was the only one with enough rooms. Trust me I'm definitely not complaining about BC.

We were lucky and had a great CM. I do think they are doing all they can to be accommodating, although some CM are more 'informed' than others.

Did you call them, or did they call you? Glad you're happy with your room!!!

We called them - we have an infant so we were a little concerned about the daytime noise. It kind of sounded like there is major stuff going on. Before we could even tell them our travel dates, we were told yes, you will need to be moved. Good luck!
