We arrive Sunday for a split stay-2 nights in cabins at Copper Creek and 2 nights in a theme park view grand villa at Bay Lake. DVC just called to say Bay Lake villa is not available due to maintenance issues. Only options were grand villa at Copper Creek or 1 and 2 bed villa at Bay Lake.
Frustrated but trying to stay positive. We were planning to walk back from MNSSHP so that’s out now. Oh well. We are still going to Disney.

The grand villa at CCV is amazing, I wouldn't pass it up.

So sorry to hear that!

You are up a bathroom at BLT and down a bathroom at CCV but that should not really matter as you have 2 in the cabin anyway.

Obviously walking home would be better but I would take the grand villa at CCV.

I'm sure it is not available but is there anyway that they can let you stay 4 nights in the CCV GV or the cabin so that you don't have to move?

Oof. Sorry to hear that but I suppose better to find out now rather than at check-in.

Is it due to the BLT refurb?

They were not available. I’m ok with moving as we were moving anyway.

Despite the disappointment I hope you still have a great time!

Oh no that’s disappointing! You are the second person I have heard of being bumped this month… Hope it doesn’t start happening too often. I’d take the GV at CCV though… will be great!

Thank you all. We are still very excited. We have 8 people coming so after being squeezed into the cabin for 2 nights, we are going to really need the extra space.

I wonder how Disney determined which Grand Villa reservation would get "the call"? Do they have a way to select the lucky (not really) recipient or sometimes I wonder if they just put all the names in a hat and draw them out. With a grand villa, they don't have as many choices but suppose a 2 BR is suddenly unavailable, so they're one 2 bedroom short on the # of reservations they have, I really wonder-do owners get priority? Order of those who made reservations? Or are we going to guess the hat?!

It think it also matters how long the room will be out of service compared to number of nights in a reservation plus check in and check out.

For example, if the room is out of service for 3 days, then maybe the person with a shorter reservation gets bumped?

I recently got bumped at BCV, one bedroom reservation in late July, four night stay, owner there, staying on points, booked at 11 months. The only variable I could think was maybe the reason is that we were arriving after dinner, around 8pm. Original replacement offered was a 1bdrm at SSR or a BCV studio. Ended up at BC CL after some back and forth. No 1bdrm available at BCV for our whole stay, even to swap rooms the next day.

So, they either pick the person arriving latest, or it’s random draw out of the people whose stay matches the out-of-service room.

It’s definitely not based on ownership or date of booking, though, IMO.
