Just got back today.

Here were our Dining selections:

Ohana's - outstanding food, service, even got a table by the window for Wishes.

Coral Reef - great atmosphere, lousy food

Chef Mickeys - awesome food and great character interaction.

Princess Breakfast at Akerhaus - food ok, worth it to see my daughters face when Mulan and jasmine (her 2 favs) appeared at her shoulder.

Rainforest Cafe - paid out of packet for this, never again. great atmosphere, lousy food, lousier service.

Hollywood and Vine (Fantasmic Package) - food good, service great, fantasmic package, worth it for the totally packed show.

Just my thoughts. Any questions, I will be more than happy to answer if I can, we were on the MYW Dining plan too.

For Hollywood & Vine - what did you have to eat? It's a buffet right? We are interested in choosing this restaurant for the Fantasmic package- would love any details on their service, if it's "kid friendly" we will be traveling with a 4 & 2 year old.

Thanks!

Did you feel like the meal plan was a good deal for your family once it was all said and done? I am on the fence about this. Did you use up all of your snack and counter service meals? THANKS!

What did you have for dinner at Coral Reef? I really want to dine there for the atmosphere, but I've heard other bad things about the food. Also were you there for lunch or dinner? Thanks

Just wondering - Were you able to book the Fantasmic Package with the dining plan? If yes, how were you able to? I have read some people used it and some people were unable to. Would like to know how I should go about trying to get this.

Thanks!

Sleuth - H & V is a buffet, they had a number of different breads, pasta salads, potato salads, mussels, shrimp as appetizers then went to chicken, fish meat dishes, sausages and then as am accompanyment mashed pot, vegs etc then to finish a great desert offering which included key lime tarts, cheesecake tarts, chocolate cake, cookies and of course an Ice cream bar with all the fixins.

Kids had their own little section on the buffet line with Mac n Cheese, chicken fingers, mashed potato but they could also choose from the regular sections too.

Service was ok, drinks were brought quickly and plates cleared quickly too.

I thought it was worth it for the Fantasmic passes, which were great for the first show of the evening and it was a PACKED house too. No waiting in line at all, we arrived about 40 mins before the show.

Cookie princess - I would have to say yes, for us it was worth it. Our 3 yr old didnt get the most out of it since she ate hardly anything at the sit down meals, but we did make up for that with the snacks and the counter service. For example, we used the plan at Coral reef, my wife and I used the plan (2 credits each) and we paid for the kids meals. Wife and I bill was 198.00 but on average we saw the cost of our meals as $10 breakfast/lunch, $30 dinner (buffets are set prices) and snack $2 - 3. so overall we broke even on the plan. If you use it with no buffets, you will come out way ahead with the plan.

We did use all our credits.

MikeWazowski - The atmosphere at Coral Reef was great. Really neat to sit and watch the fish in the tank. Food wise - nothing special. With the Dining plan, we were told that we could have anything on the menu PLUS either Lobster tail, Steak, or crab cake.

I had the Grilled Mahi with ****ake mushroon sauce and a lobster tail, Wife had Tilapia Oscar and Fillet Mignon. As appetizers I had the crab cake with truffle sauce and wife had the lobster bisque. Dessert was a Bermuda Triangle (banana ice cream and banana cake), as well as the signature desert (cant remember the name)

Lobster tails were fried, i think and very hard to pull out of the shell - was not impressed with the food at all.

Only thing that i really liked was the crab cake.

DisneyGirl2005 - I had booked the Fantasmic package back in Nov, prior to the MYW Dining plan coming out. We had heard on these boards that you could not use the Fantasmic package with the plan, we had heard you could with a $10 charge.

We told our server and the hostess that we had the Fantasmic package and the MYW DIning plan and they said nothing. Just gave us the pass when we sat down and that was that.

I dont know if we got lucky, had a server that didnt know there was an extra charge or what. That was our experience.

I hope I answered all your questions, If you have any others, let me know.

Hi Mark! Glad you had a great time and your daughter saw Mulan. She is our favorite too! :)

I'm a little slow tonight...so you could use your sit down credits with the dining plan at H&V with the FDP?

Ohanas was great.

Big platter of appetizers comes to the table. Wings, salad, wontons, green beans, rice.

Then they bring the skewers of meat: turkey, steak, shrimp, pork.

After that they bring the pineapple and caramel sauce.

For the kids, they have coconut races and hula hooping.

I think we just got lucky with the table by the window, but you may be able to ask to wait for one. We watched the Wishes (2nd time) from the window and they do pipe the music in to the restraunt and dim the lights.

If you are a meat lover - Ohanas is for you.

Glad that you had a good time. Thanks for the reviews. :earsgirl: Looking forward to our vacation in June. I wish it was here now.

Thanks for the reviews, and for taking the time to answer everyone's questions! :)
