I don't do trip reports but like the "I'm back" threads so thought I'd add my own!
We (me, girlfriend, 20m old son, my dad and step mum) went for a quick weekend trip and it was the first time for my dad and step mum. They're really not Disney people but wanted to spend some time with their grandson.
We went into Disney on Friday, visited Paris on Saturday and then hit the parks again on Sunday.
Pros:
Seeing my dad spend time with Ben. Absolutely priceless.
Magic Circus - much better than the Disney hotels (bar DLH & HNY). We booked 2 standard doubles but my room seemed to be upgraded as it was significantly bigger than my dads.
Rides - We got a surprising amount done. The park was very empty on Friday. Walked on to POTC, SW, SM, ST, BLLB, P, SWSA, MHTC & PM. It was a little busier on the Sunday but we prepared for this by going to the studios until 4 enjoying most of the shows.
Paris - We had a fantastic lunch in Laduree on the Champs Elysee, followed by some tasty macaroons for dessert.
AP Discount - We managed to use it in both Planet Hollywood & Rainforest Cafe (they don't advertise this discount)
Shopping - Ben's grandparents were very generous and got him a quite ridiculous amount of gifts including a Mickey teddy that is nearly twice as big as him and a Fantasia musical collectable from the art shop (complete with spinning mops under his gown). We're expecting a girl in September and were also treated to some lovely clothes including a very pretty Minnie mouse dress and cardigan.
Photo pass - Thanks to Rottie for the heads up on this! 5 photos for E35. You don't get the nice frames (they just come in as a print in generic DLP envelopes). We only used 4 so gave our last one to a family looking at their photo on POTC. They seemed very happy though somewhat sceptical of our gift!
The castle - A lot of the scaffolding has been removed. As you look down Main Street you cant see any at all. The back is still covered but you don't notice it as much. There's also some down one side (Discoveryland side). The bit that is finished looks fantastic!
Cons - Really struggling to think of any! There were a lot of rehabs going on (Orbitron, BTM, Toad Hall, The wheel in storybook land + more) but they weren't that noticable.
We're on a bit of a comedown now and we wont be able to go back for some time due to the new arrival in September.
