Yep, just came back from our Bi-annual visit to Orlando! 8 days of fun, frustration and food! The 3 F's!
Stayed at AKL for 5 nights and 2 nights at RPR. Good rates on both hotels and the construction wasn't a problem at AKL. In fact it got us a decent savanah/construction room for $175 a night. There were animals outside our window in the morning and evening, so it worked out well.
But it was frustrating, went with the in-laws again this year. Last year I vowed to never do a trip with extended family again, but I'm forgetful and optomistic. Never again though. I swear!
It wasn't too bad I guess. But it just seemed as if the schedule and planning we made much earlier just wasn't good enough. There were high-points but a few low points. DW is 4 months preganant, so she just couldn't do as much as she wanted. MIL really seemed to want to go back to Disney on our Universal days and the in-laws decided to stay off-site during the Uni portion, so that added quite a bit of frustration!
By 10 am Saturday, I was trying to convince DW to take DD and go with the in-laws back to MK for the day and just drop me off at Uni. She suggested doing that at first, and I didn't really care for the idea. But after a frustrating car ride from WDW to UO (it took about an hour to go the 10 miles) I really thought it would be a GREAT idea!
You should have heard the debacle on the last day. The in-laws got lost driving to pick us up at the RPR to go to the airport. I was worried we'd miss the flight, or at the very least, not have enough time to put gas in the rental car and get charged $8 a gallon for gas.
Anyway... I just really feel like blowing of steam about it... Anybody else have a bad family trip the want to rant about? I'm game to see who has the best complaints!
By Sunday night I actually told my wife I could not wait to go back to work on Wednesday. Things got pretty, pretty ugly. Saying that didn't help!

but at least it wasn't all bad. Guess I was lucky, we took my 73 yr old Mother on vacation with us to Disney a few years back, hubby still says that was one of the best vacations he has ever had. But he was very close to my Mom (she died last year), and my Mom was a blast to be with, she just flowed with the punches and she was so funny, she never acted her age. But I would never take my in-laws on vacation with us
(and my hubby would even agree!)
