Hey Y'all.
Just got home yesterday from being away 17 days and it's a pleasant surprise to see the weather here at home so nice. We stayed at Board Walk and Old Key West. WOW is how I will sum up these two resorts. However by Board Walk standards I thought it was looking a little worn. The carpets looking aged and hard wood floors in the main Lobby well scratched and over polished the elevator doors scraped up. Now Old Key West. Hmm. Lets just say that place will remain our little secret. I Just loved it there but will not elaborate for fear of not being able to get a booking next year. We will go back to our home DVC at Saratoga and will spend half of the trip back at OKW next year. Looking forward to many more years ahead :thumbsup2

Terrible resort.

No one should *EVER* consider staying there.

Awful. Just awful.

:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Glad you had a great trip:) Highs? Lows? Crowds?
You know we want to hear all about it:)

pkitty - welcome back.

mbb - I'm glad you said this........we definately aren't staying there in July. The thought of it just makes me shutter. I'm sure the kids would hate the big pool and the new slide ;)

Despite all my protestations that I'd never stay onsite (because of all the great offsite accomodations available) I am actually considering renting some DVC points and trying it out. Am I correct in thinking that the only studio we can rent that actually has 2 beds is at OKW? We would consider taking the plunge and renting a 2bdrm (to accurately compare our onsite/offsite accomodations) but, again it would have to be OKW if I wanted both kids to have their own, proper bed and not have somebody sleeping on a pull out, right?

The only studios with 2 queen beds are at OKW, yes:)

If you want to try a 2 bedroom, though, you can request a "dedicated" 2 bedroom at the other DVC resorts, though.

I *think* they all have them, you could do a quick search on the DVC boards. ( I just don't want to say, yes, they all have dedicated 2 queen bedrooms, for sure, and mess up your planning:) ...but I'm pretty sure they do..LOL!)

And Yzma and Kronk..no, no, it's not a big pool at all...and the slide - well, "Blech" should pretty well sum it up....and the Key Lime pie at Olivia'a...I shudder to think of it...

...oh, the agony of having to stay at OKW:crazy2:

Look, let us do you a favour...we'll take that ressie off your hands, really, and I won't charge *you* a cent to do so.

Just want to help out a fellow Dis'er :goodvibes

:lmao:

Not Key Lime Pie at Olivia's. :sad2:

I thought I'd be mean to DH for his 45th and made a ADR at Olivia's.........(even the CM was not impressed I picked Olivia's ;) )

FayeW - OKW is the only DVC I've stayed at and we love it! (sorry :teeth: )
DH hasn't stayed there before, and he is ....not into Disney......gasp!.....and would prefer to stay off site. I'm positive he'll love it there. You should give it a try. We are also renting points, it's a good way to go.

The OKW "feelings" intrigue me as we have planned our DVC for a 2 bedroom at OKW, which we have never stayed at before and the remainder at BWV, which we have stayed at and love the location.

Hmmm, I wonder if I will "dislike" it as much as you guys?

The constant fight between my heart and my "inner cheapskate" is going to make my head explode! I would like to try a DVC resort, but at the same time, the 2 bdrm will cost more for the 5 days than a 3 bdrm condo offsite will cost for the entire 9 days (about $400. more, and then I still need 4 nights elsewhere!) I am trying to justify it by the fact that I cancelled our plans for a cruise, and feel I can splurge on accomodations instead. Don't get me wrong, we can afford it... I'm just afraid that I will self-combust when I actually reach in my wallet to pay for it ;) .

I would like to try the dining plan, but then again, if I stay offsite I could just pay for the meals outright and it would probably come out the same. How am I ever going to survive the next 8 months wrestling with this??

Just do it! :thumbsup2

(or just book it!)

FayeW - Have calculated the cost renting points from a DVC member instead of direct? I

Sorry for falling off the map here for a few days! The weather was great 2 cooler days but other than that really nice. The parks where definately getting crowded as the days went by but we still managed to ride Everest 4 times. It's an awesome ride and really fun! As my DH stated OKW was a drag (wink wink) but the real disapointment was the Boardwalk. The staff in the bakery was straight up rude. Lot's of eye rolling if you came in with your DVC mug and one morning we witnessed outright mad behaviour from the staff there towards a gentleman trying to get breakfast for his family using the Disney dining plan. It was like he was a second class citizen (keep in mind he was a Boardwalk "hotel" guest paying 300 - 400$ US/ night). It was astonishing. Once you get over the asthetics (beautiful there) you start to notice as DH said, that it's a bit shabby. Unfortnately I had to do laundry and I was shocked by the state of the laundry facility - rotted drywall behind the machines, broken door handle (just hanging there!) DIRTY...floors, doors, dryer fronts...wow. Anyway needless to say I couldn't wait to move into OKW. Well that's pretty much it. Nice trip. :thumbsup2
