Just back from a wonderful weekend at the Fort! It was a beautiful weekend, the weather was great, the sun was shining and our air conditioner worked just fine!
Though it didn't start out that way....
We decided to get away for the weekend after everything that happened last week, so Friday morning I called to see if we could get a site. When I called, they said their systems were down, so they couldnt process my credit card but gaurenteed that I would have a partial loop site when I arrived.
OK- so we get to packing up and getting ready... a short 2 hours later we are finally on the road... pick the boys up from school a little early and off we go....
When we get to the Fort, I am informed that there are no partial sites available and that we are in a Full hook up...
oh well, we're here, its getting late and I want to get to Epcot to see all the flowers and watch Illuminations (which we have yet to see) so we take the full hook up. We were given a site in the 1800 loop- right next to the CS that they are currently remodeling- actually the construction crews had hoses hooked up to the water for that site running to the bathrooms!!!
How could they put you in that site when the entire loop is deserted!!!!
So, I call up to the Outpost and request another site, explaining the situation and how big our camper is. I requested a site in the 1600 loop but was told the entire loop was booked- even though more than half the sites were empty... we were then assigned a site in 1700 loop- when we get there we find out that there wouldnt really be enough room at all.
At this point I am thinking there is no Magic in store for this trip and getting very frustrated...
After what felt like an eternity on hold, we were finally told that we could have site 1619. Finally- so we get set up and try to get over to Epcot in time for Illuminations... We must have just missed the bus since we had to wait about 20 min or so... we got to Epcot just as Illuminations was starting and with it started that oh so wonderful Disney Magic that I love so much
Since Friday was EMH, we toured the World, had croisants in France (and some great wine too). DH loved looking through the stuff in Germany and all the boys wanted to do was get back to where "the good stuff was" So we took them on Test Track, Mission Space, and Spaceship Earth. By this time it was just past midnight so we hopped a bus back to the Fort.
Matt and I decided to have a little late night stroll with the puppies then took the GC out for a little loop up to the pool- I'll post the pics later
Saturday- everyone but my adorable puppies slept in. So being the great mom I am- I took them out to the dog park to run off all that energy before it got too hot out and met up with one of the gals participating in the Danskin triathalon. So we chatted about this and that while the puppies played. Around noon, the last of my sleepy heads woke up so after lunch we went to the pool for the rest of the afternoon. DH had to leave to be at work Sat night, so I finished the rest of the trip with the boys solo and he took the puppies home with him. We went to the sing along and movie Saturday night and were all asleep by 11.
Sunday- Happy Mother's Day!!!
I didnt want to go home yet, so I called DH and told him I was extending our stay and we'd be home on Monday instead!
I then decided that our Mother's Day tradition would now be to go to Sea World for the day (we did last year too) so I get to see all my favorite mammals
I even let the boys pick the seats for Believe ad we were in the 2nd row- so we got totally soaked!!! But it felt good compared to the heat! We headed back to the Fort to go to the pool but learned it was closed for unscheduled maintenence
so instead we went down to the beach. I got to spend the early evening lounging in a chair under an umbrella with an ice cold beer while the boys played in the sand at the waters edge. Since it was Mother's Day and I didnt really feel like cooking- we got the Giddyap and Go and ate it at one of the picnic tables on the beach. I wish I had my camera for this one though- the boys decided to feed our feathered friends their left overs and some were walking, err waddling
right up to them and eating out of their hands! It was so cute! After that, was a quick dip in the reopened pool and then off to Magic Kingdom for EMH!!!
Today I managed to pack up the entire camper, get the GC loaded in the truck and hook the trailer up to the truck (first time doing all this solo) and hit the road to head home
But at least I managed to do it all myself so I can go to the Fort solo whenever I want now
Time to unpack and start washing laundry...
