Just back from a wonderful weekend at the Fort! It was a beautiful weekend, the weather was great, the sun was shining and our air conditioner worked just fine! ;) Though it didn't start out that way....

We decided to get away for the weekend after everything that happened last week, so Friday morning I called to see if we could get a site. When I called, they said their systems were down, so they couldnt process my credit card but gaurenteed that I would have a partial loop site when I arrived. :confused3 OK- so we get to packing up and getting ready... a short 2 hours later we are finally on the road... pick the boys up from school a little early and off we go....

When we get to the Fort, I am informed that there are no partial sites available and that we are in a Full hook up...:confused3 oh well, we're here, its getting late and I want to get to Epcot to see all the flowers and watch Illuminations (which we have yet to see) so we take the full hook up. We were given a site in the 1800 loop- right next to the CS that they are currently remodeling- actually the construction crews had hoses hooked up to the water for that site running to the bathrooms!!! :scared1: How could they put you in that site when the entire loop is deserted!!!! So, I call up to the Outpost and request another site, explaining the situation and how big our camper is. I requested a site in the 1600 loop but was told the entire loop was booked- even though more than half the sites were empty... we were then assigned a site in 1700 loop- when we get there we find out that there wouldnt really be enough room at all. :headache: At this point I am thinking there is no Magic in store for this trip and getting very frustrated...

After what felt like an eternity on hold, we were finally told that we could have site 1619. Finally- so we get set up and try to get over to Epcot in time for Illuminations... We must have just missed the bus since we had to wait about 20 min or so... we got to Epcot just as Illuminations was starting and with it started that oh so wonderful Disney Magic that I love so much :wizard:

Since Friday was EMH, we toured the World, had croisants in France (and some great wine too). DH loved looking through the stuff in Germany and all the boys wanted to do was get back to where "the good stuff was" So we took them on Test Track, Mission Space, and Spaceship Earth. By this time it was just past midnight so we hopped a bus back to the Fort.

Matt and I decided to have a little late night stroll with the puppies then took the GC out for a little loop up to the pool- I'll post the pics later ;)

Saturday- everyone but my adorable puppies slept in. So being the great mom I am- I took them out to the dog park to run off all that energy before it got too hot out and met up with one of the gals participating in the Danskin triathalon. So we chatted about this and that while the puppies played. Around noon, the last of my sleepy heads woke up so after lunch we went to the pool for the rest of the afternoon. DH had to leave to be at work Sat night, so I finished the rest of the trip with the boys solo and he took the puppies home with him. We went to the sing along and movie Saturday night and were all asleep by 11.

Sunday- Happy Mother's Day!!! :flower3: I didnt want to go home yet, so I called DH and told him I was extending our stay and we'd be home on Monday instead! :dance3: I then decided that our Mother's Day tradition would now be to go to Sea World for the day (we did last year too) so I get to see all my favorite mammals :woohoo: I even let the boys pick the seats for Believe ad we were in the 2nd row- so we got totally soaked!!! But it felt good compared to the heat! We headed back to the Fort to go to the pool but learned it was closed for unscheduled maintenence :scared: so instead we went down to the beach. I got to spend the early evening lounging in a chair under an umbrella with an ice cold beer while the boys played in the sand at the waters edge. Since it was Mother's Day and I didnt really feel like cooking- we got the Giddyap and Go and ate it at one of the picnic tables on the beach. I wish I had my camera for this one though- the boys decided to feed our feathered friends their left overs and some were walking, err waddling :) right up to them and eating out of their hands! It was so cute! After that, was a quick dip in the reopened pool and then off to Magic Kingdom for EMH!!!

Today I managed to pack up the entire camper, get the GC loaded in the truck and hook the trailer up to the truck (first time doing all this solo) and hit the road to head home :sad1: But at least I managed to do it all myself so I can go to the Fort solo whenever I want now :rolleyes1

Time to unpack and start washing laundry... :laundy:

I am woman, hear me roar! I am impressed. I wouldn't even try to go solo at the Fort without Hubby. Plus, your boys are young yet. WOW!

Way to go Tig!!! We ladies don't need no stinkin men to go campin now do we :banana:

Sounds like you had a fun weekend!!

Yeah!! Way to go, Tig!!!

Carol - we'll find out how "this lady" does Mem. Day weekend when I solo in the MH. Please be there early 'cause I'm going to need a spotter (other than Wynottah) to help me back into the site! :thumbsup2

Deb we're looking to be there 1 or 2 on Friday but Rick is moving a bit slow these days so not sure
Yeah!! Way to go, Tig!!!

Great TR, and big ups for swinging a big chunk of it on your own with the kiddos. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Glad you all had a great time!

Great mini report!
Great MOther's day present... staying longer! hehe
Um.. .unscheduled maintenance? What time was it? I hope that doesn't happen often! Sounds like it was afternoon or evening and if it was early evening that's gonna be bad for us- that's when we intend to go to the pool. No clue why huh?

And wow.... had your kids with you, packed AND hooked up the trailer on your own and drove home? you're more woman than I am! LOL I'd be all like um drive up here and hook this up and drive it home, DH. LOL

Impressive! We wouldn't be camping anywhere if the hubby wasn't hooking up, driving and unhooking! Good for you! I am jealous! Glad you had a great time!

We were there this weekend for a long mother's day weekend too! It was fabulous. We were in site 2022 and it was perfect. Went to Epcot on Saturday and spent almost our whole time doing the Kim Possible thing- my 7yo son LOVED it! We were at the pool Sun afternoon from around 2-4 and must have missed the maintenance downtime. It was my hubby's first time at the fort and I was wary of how he would like it (doesn't like crowds and isn't a disney maniac like me and DS) but he loved the whole experience- especially cruisin' with the golf cart. We were both amazed at how vacant the place became Sunday afternoon- the 2000 loop was less than half full Sunday night. I thought Disney was always booked solid. We will definitely be back- soon I hope

Nice job on the mini TR!

Sorry about all the problems getting your site. I guess I got all the pixie dust last weekend. That means it's your turn to get it all the next time. :)

You guys are at the Fort as much as me!!

Congratulations on being able to pack up, hitch up, and get everything home!

I know that it a lot of work.

But, as you said, now that you have done it the first time, it will only get easier from here.

See you at the Fort!

TCD

p.s. don't forget to post your photos!popcorn::

I am woman hear me ROAR! :hippie: Well, since I'm a Tigger- I guess I'll just bounce. :tigger:

I picked up a nasty cold while I was in the hospital last week and it decided to settle in my lungs yesterday. Now I have no voice and can't stop coughing... sigh...

I am currently leraning how to back up with the trailer- so as soon as I can do that- watch out! DH will end up coming home from work one day and find a note to meet us at the Fort :lmao:

Deb- we should be there early on Friday- I'm hoping to get there by 11, so if you need a hand, just let me know!

I am waiting for my camera to recharge so I can connect it to the computer to upload ;) Pics should be up this afternoon :thumbsup2

12 more days till we're back at the Fort and I cant wait! Depending on DH's schedule, since he had to take some unscheduled vaca. time last week for our "incident", I may have to pack up solo again this trip- but if I did it once, the second time should be a breeze!

WOW! I am super impressed you packed up, hooked up, and headed home all with 4 little boys with you! I'm not brave enough yet to camp without DH - I don't think he would trust me with his beloved truck and "the Beast", anyway. I'm a very good navigator, though! Sounds like you had a great time; I'm looking forward to the pics.

Not only did my wife pack up the trailer and hook it up, she also drove the cart up the ramps into the back of the truck all by herself.

I am so proud of her :lovestruc:love:

It's nice to know we can do anything ourselves if/when we need to - way to go Tiggy!
Great mini-report - can't wait for the pics!
