Just got back last night from YC
Whew...just got back at 11:30 PM last night. We stayed at the YC from 8/7/12-8/13/12 water view room 1047 looking across the lake to the Boardwalk.

1-YC location, fantastic to walk 5 min to EPCOT. I could watch the higher fireworks of Illuminations from my patio. Loved having DS so close by boat.

2-Buses to DTD, BB, TL and MK were a pain. I think we just had bad timing and must have missed the bus that we wanted as we waited on average 20 for a bus to come and then 20 min to get to our destination. Sometimes we stopped only at the Beach club and then off to our destination, but sometimes we stopped at Swan, then Dolphin then the Boardwalk. This just made for long transportation times.

3-SAB, loved it!! The pool was fantastic. Loved the sandy bottom, hot tubs and play areas. The teens were in heaven and spent a lot of time there. Each member of our party was asked to present her room key and were given a different colored wristband every day. Chairs were hard to come by in the afternoon, but I found the crowds to be tolerable there

4-room. We asked for, in this order, 1st floor-close to the lobby-daybed. We got a lovely 1st floor room with a large day bed....but our room was very far from the lobby and pool. Made for quite a hike to and from, but we were glad for the 1st floor and daybed. Awesome view, watched Illuminations from our patio every night that we weren't at EPCOT. Fun to see the Boardwalk. Our fridge did not work, the door would not shut. Asked for a new one which did not seem to keep anything cold. Luckily we brought a collapsible cooler, which worked great.

5-Mousekeeping- was so strange this time. Our room had a day bed, so we asked for an extra duvet/comforter our 1st night. it was delivered no problem. The next day, mousekeeping took the extra duvet and also our other beds duvets too....3 calls later a very nice Mousekeeper brought us three duvet covers, only to have the extra one take the next day as well. 1st day we had no toiletries, so I called and got a huge bad delivered, so nice! One morning, Mousekeeping came at 9AM, another day came at 4:30...so we did not get a full service. I just had them take our dirty towels and get clean towels.

6-Food at YC, Hurricane Hannah's was good. I loved the Sunken Treasure drink. Easy to refill our mugs there

7-Cape May Buffet was our favorite eatery of the entire trip. We stuffed ourselves on crab legs, mussels and deserts....so much fun

8-Laundry...hate doing laundry on vaca, but had to do it. The laundry was just down the hallway. $2.00 per wash and dry cycle.

Any questions, please ask. We had a great trip and really liked YC

Glad you had a great time!

We stayed at YC last Thanksgiving and I have to say, I like it much better than BC!

I liked the quietness of YC better than BC, BC just seemed more crowded. When we would pick up there on a bus route, there was always double the people than on our bus stop. The lobby was crazy busy and loud.

YC didn't seem stuffy to us, just more quiet. There were lots of kids there, relaxed attire and some more dressy people too. Just a nice mix of everyone.

Glad everything else was good, but the bus transportation is the reason our family will not stay at an EPCOT resort again. Not worth the hassle.

Glad you had a great time! What king of toiletries did you receive?

Great review! Glad that you enjoyed your stay at the YC. We are leaning toward YC for our next trip and it is nice to read happy reviews of the resort we are dreaming about!

We love the EPCOT resort area, but in our experience the bus service in that area is irritating. Why they use one bus for 5 resorts is beyond me. It created a few "situations" when we were there in January, and we waited well over 30 minutes for a bus to DTD and the rode the bus for 30 more minutes.

Anyway, sorry about the busses, but thanks again for a good review.:thumbsup2

All of the horror stories about the bus situation has made me conclude that the only way I'll likely stay at an EP resort is as part of a split stay.

Glad you had a great stay :). We've stayed at the BC and are giving the YC a try next summer. We experienced horrible bus transportation during our stay too, but we are giving the Epcot resorts another try as we'll only be there for two nights prior to a cruise. I'm hoping we love it ;).

Larger versions of the shampoo, conditioner, body gel and lotion that we got later on "Disney resorts H2O grapefruit bergamot".

I like the grapefruit smell, nice and refreshing with out being greasy.

We got tired of waiting for the DTD bus and just took a cab, cost $15.20 with out tip. Totally worth it! and then we took a cab home

We also waited for a TL bus, and waited and waited and finally took a cab. I think it was around $12.00. We got luckier and took the bus home, but it did make multiple stops.

We also had booked two tours, backstage magic and dive quest and needed to be at the front of EPCOT. For the Backstage magic, i needed to be there before the park opened, so I took a cab. Cost around $12.00. I had heard from the tour CM, when I booked that I had to take a cab. The concierge at the YC told me I could get thru international gateway early. I didn't want to chance being denied at IG, so I took the cab.

I liked the buses at the Poly better, seemed like they came more often and would only share with GF or CR and sometimes neither.

But the walk to EPCOT was awesome, short cut...take the waterfront path, not the bridge. It will save you even more time.

Hope you like the YC :thumbsup2 It really is a lovely resort, nice dining options and so close to the IG.

Thanks :). We liked the BC, but we see the YC as a little quieter. We are also going to love being so close to Yachtsman Steakhouse. We tried it on our last trip and it is now one of my DS's favorite places, so he is thrilled to be staying right there :goodvibes.

We actually got to stay there for free in June of 2009 and did not care for it. When we go and pay ourselves we always stay at POFQ. YC was WAY too big for our taste. It took us forever to get too the pool and to the lobby, the gift shop was puny and was very expensive. Checking in was difficult also. The kids did love the pool and the slide, but hated the pool parties. It was also very loud during the 2 hours we went every day and the lifeguards were annoying trying to get us to participate. But the worst was the buses, with our average wait being 25 mins. It was nice being close to Epcot, but took forever to get to the other parks. I much prefer the small size of POFQ and will never stay at YC again (unless it's free again!).

Which path do you mean? I thought there was only one path to the IG? We love the walk to EPCOT - it's so great to wander around WS at night and get desserts, or quick service. We also really enjoyed the walk to DHS.

We found that the busses at the Poly were really speedy, too. I am glad to know that others have the same issues in the EPCOT area though, because for awhile I thought it was just us! It seems to be in all seasons, and it's not just when I need to be somewhere in under an hour and 45 minutes (slight exaggeration, but not by much).

Thanks again.

Glad you enjoyed your trip:cool1:...sucks that you had to spend all that money in cab fare.

I thought that POFQ had more rooms than YC? Everything I've seen shows POFQ at 1000 and YC at 630...

When you walk from EPCOT's IG, you can take the bridge or the walkway by the river canal that is a little to your left.

Same when walking from YC, there is a bridge you can take or take a canal path, a little to your right. Saves tons a time and no walking up hill :)

Gotcha! I can totally picture this now, not so much last night! Thanks for the tip and the clarification.

Buses are the worst at BC/YC! We love this area but we ended up spending all our time at Epcot, Boardwalk & DHS, because of the transportation headache.
Buses were coming around FULL...so we had to wait for the second bus...and then you have SO MANY resorts included in this route - crazy!!
