Just got back from the world, what I loved and didn't

Hi everyone, we (myself,husband, mother in law, father in law, brother and sister in law) just took a trip Nov.29-Dec.6th.

First of all we were on the DDP and so we had ADR almost every night. Personally, if I had to do it over I would not reserve any buffet meals, the only reason we did some was because of additional packages. Not that they were bad but every other table service was better. We ate at Coral Reef (everyone liked), Boma (okay), Hollywood and Vine (I didn't eat the food but it is a buffet), California Grill (Greeaaaaaaaat), Planet Hollywood (Good), Le Cellier (very good).

I have to say one of my favorite counter service meal was Pizzafari at Animal Kingdom.

So anyway, what I loved was the Candlelight Processional, it was terrific, our guest speaker was Mario Lopez, from Dancing with the Stars and Saved by the Bell. If you have any christmas spirit, this is absolutely wonderful. Second of all I enjoyed the Osbourne Spectacle of Lights at MGM, very pretty. And last but not least not really for the holidays, but the Festival of the Lion King, is also great.

Now, for the downer, we did the MVMCP, and honestly I don't think it is worth it at all. Yes we saw the Mickey christmas story show, the parade, and the Holiday Wishes, but man it was crowded, we went on a Thursday. I did like the special Wishes, but is it really worth the extra 40 dollars, for me no, do the above events, I felt they were better, and free.

I wonder if the parks would be so packed, if WDW would just make it a continuous Christmas Party from the end of Nov. till Jan. 1. It is what I usually hear about MVMCP, just to crowded.

I'm glad you had a good time. I've never done MVMCP, but I can see why it would be so crowded. Everyone seems to love Le Cellier...i'll have to try it sometime!

In my opinion yes. Especially if you have mostly adults in your group. Sure we wouldn't have ate appetizers and desserts with every meal, but to me it was almost like those were free. Plus since you already have pre-paided it seemed nicer than shelling out money for every meal. Not to mention that whatever you feel like having you get because your not thinking this is 4 dollars cheaper than the thing I really want. Just my thoughts, and I think everyone in our party enjoyed it. Thanks.

I'm glad you liked the DDP. Since our sons are almost 16 we are 4 adults as far as Disney is concerned. We'll be taking the plan for a spin right after Christmas.

I was in WDW about the same time as you, 11/30-12/5, I went to MVMCP on Monday night and it was great, I got there about 7:45, really late, but I did not hang around main street, but rather went to Tomorrow Land, I went on Buzz, Stich and then Buzz again with no wait at all. I then went on Winnie the Pooh, Snow White and then Peter Pan (PP was the longest wait at 10 minutes and that was because of the crowds flowing into Fantasy Land after the end of the 1st parade). From there I went to Mickey's Philharmagic, there was a bit of glitch here so I waited 15 minutes for the show, I was exiting the theater just at 9:30 and watch the Fireworks (they were great) I then went on Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain. All were pretty much a walk on and the CM at Splash Mountain said I could stay on and ride again if I wanted, but I wanted to get a spot for the 10:45 parade. I loved the parade, I got a great spot near Liberty Tavern, after the parade I went on Pirates, I got some cookies and hot chocolate and then over the Castle to watch the final show.
I was able to do so much I was really surprised and pleased. I think the key is to get a jump on the attractions while everyone else is waiting for the first parade. As long as you are out of Fantasy Land by the time the crowd gets there you can get so much done.
I think that the only reason Splash mountain was so dead ( I was the only one in my boat and the boats in front of me and behind me were empty) was because it had gotten so cold.
I feel MVMCP was well worth the money and I am looking forward to going again next year.
I agree that the DDP is a great deal, there was just my husband and I and we enjoy sitting down to a good meal. We loved Le Cellier too, it was my husband's first time eating there and he was impressed.
