It is a beautiful place, but I could never live there.
I loved seeing so many historical places that I've heard of and seen pictures of, but never got to visit first hand. I loved being able to be in some place incredible with some of my very closest friends. I LOVED the smart cars, if only the US could switch over completely to these cars and smaller cars, they are so friendly to the environment, well more so than everything we drive... but it doesn't seem we will be giving up our Hummers and Jeeps any time soon, unfortunately. I hated the fact that everything seemed to be in military time, i was finding myself at a loss as to what time it was all the time... ( Is all of Europe like this? Or just Rome? I felt rather lost.) I hated switching over from the time change, I hated how crazy some of the people drived, it was as if that lanes didn't exist, no civilians could pass, and no stop light meant stop... it felt worse than New York. Pasta and Pizza got old rather quickly, I must say I was very happy to come home and eat an in and out burger. It was very interesting to see how expensive and inexpensive some things were compared to the U.S. For instance a small bottle of coke almost anywhere I went was probably 4 euros in comparison to 1 to 2 dollars or less in the U.S. The fact that many stores don't open until after 12 or much later and close early was interesting. The cobble-stone feet is not ideal for marching on.
People in Rome had never seen a marching band, they were taking pictures of us and taping us like crazy, that was pretty neat to me, to think that people thought of us as a 'cool' attraction. I will post more information about my trip later on, perhaps even some pictures of places that I had the opportunity to visit.
