I was just wondering if anybody would be interested in a trip report. We have done 3 Disney cruises and didn't want to wait one more year to go to alaska. I would try to make it more about the ports than the Princess part itself so that there would be some information for disney's upcoming Alaska Cruises...

We started in Anchorage...which I know doesn't apply, but we ended in Vancouver. If there is enough interest, I will post on the trip reports page and put a link....

Yes we did Princess cruise to Alaska 2 years ago and liked it very much. NO it wasn't Disney, but hey getting waited on for a whole week, and good food, it was great.

Personally, I'd also love to hear about your thoughts on Princess popcorn::

And I can't wait to read your TR

Of course! We've done two cruisetours to Alaska with Princess so far, in 2005 and 2008. We love Alaska and we love Princess! That said, we are also doing Alaska with DCL next August. We love DCL AND Alaska so we hope we love them together! It will help that we've already experienced Alaska with Princess so we know what to expect and what we'd like to do in each port.

So, did you fall in love with Alaska? It's really hard not to...

Ok, I have started my trip report in word, and will cut and paste sections soon, and then post the link here to the thread.

My whole family absolutley LOVED Alaska. I thought that I would be bummed not going somewhere warm on this vacation, but Alaska is just so amazing that I would love to do it again.

It was interesting going on a different cruise line too. We have loved cruising on Disney and were quite spoiled with some of the things that Disney offers, but we did enjoy Princess too. There were some things about Princess that I like better...(we really enjoyed the food on princess, but I never had any complaints about Disney's food either, it just seemed really yummy) and there were things we like about Disney better (drink station, and no auto tipping). My DS is 10, we were on the Island Princess, we took him to the kids club on the first day to check it out. It wasn't very warm and inviting at all, there was only one, not very welcoming person there during the open house, and needless to say DS never wanted to go back. Of course, there weren't that many kids on board, so that might have something to do with the kids club there. He met up with another child his age and they would meet at the swimming pool to go swimming, so he was happy with that.

Ok, going to go work on trip report, I will post here when done. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Alaska is amazing!

It was the Island Princess that we were on in 2005- a beautiful ship!

I would love to hear your trip report! DH and I are thinking about taking an Alaska cruise out of SF (which means no flying for us). Princess is the cruise line we are thinking of booking.

West coaster here too.... However, I have heard that going out of San Fransciso can be very very rough waters. I had wanted to do it and a travel agent talked me out of it.
We have done 3 cruises to Alaska, 3 years in a row. 2 on Celebrity, and 1 on Princess. Twice out of Vancouver and once out of Seattle. We love Alaska. Our first cruise we had a mid ship veranda on Celebrity in a concierge class, it was un beatable. 2nd time on Celebrity had a family veranda. Back of the ship HUGE veranda. Enough for 4 full length chaise lounges AND a table. Felt the ship much more at the back of the ship, but the veranda was great.
Princess out of Seattle, it was very nice too. I would say I enjoyed Celebrity a bit more for just DH and myself, but took Princess with our 2 sons.. 18 and 16. They enjoyed Alaska sites so much. We had a Disney cruise booked for Mexico in 08, and boys wanted me to cancel the cruise cause they wanted to do Alaska more.
I want to do Alaska on Disney so much, but too expensive for us. When I can get a mini suite on another ship for the same price as a room with no veranda on Disney,.... I decided I wouldn't do Alaska this year..
But you will all LOVE Alaska.

Thanks for your input!:) I do get rather sea sick at times, so maybe it would be better for my family to fly to Seattle instead? We are still contemplating a Disney Alaskan cruise, but I really want a veranda. Like you said we can get a better deal on a different cruise line. I've heard nothing but good things about Alaskan cruises.:)
