Got free passes for a "secret" pre-screening party. WBLI (local radio station) were giving away posters, keychains, shirts, $5 gift card for Jillian's (for those who don't know, Jillians is a restaurant/arcade/pool tables/bowling, etc all in one building and all the kids love it here), plush, free karate lessons, etc. Very nice. The movie on the other hand was just OK. Alot of monsters, scary parts. Some of the characters are very reminiscint of Disney one's and some scenes are soooo like Disney. Won't say which one jumps out of the screen screaming DISNEY - don't want to spoil it for anyone.

Bottom line - glad I saw it for free - wait for the DVD if you can. Nemo BLOWS it away.

I'm not sure Nemo is fair competition for any movie, lol. I'm hearing great things about it and I can't wait to see it myself. I'm sure I'll see Simbad eventually but I'm not going to make any great effort to watch it.

I remember hearing about this but somehow it never got on my calendar as an upcoming movie.
When's the release date?

I believe it is coming out the first week in July. Like I said, it's OK, not great. I have to say though, the "winter/snow" scene is great. That's about it.

thanks for the warning, I'll save our money till it comes out on video (or maybe even cable)

We saw it last night too....our local Radio Disney had contests and we all went. I'm glad I didn't pay....it wasn't a bad movie....lots of action, but it seemed more like a "guy flick". My DH and DS appreciated it more than the girls or I did. :bounce:

Is this something that people who liked Atlantis and Treasure Planet might like?

My DD said to me, "Mom! This looks like Treasure Planet!" :bounce:

Sounds like a yes to me, then. :D Thanks Quiet. :) I loved Treasure Planet so I may see if I can find some friends who want to see this. :D

Radio Disney had a contest for a Dreamworks picture?????

Was that part of Katzenberg's settlement?

I guess if Dreamworks paid for it, money is still money no matter where it comes from.

Aint It Cool News gave it a favorable review. They said it was what Treasure Planet was supposed to be and I actually liked that movie.

There were some jokes in it that weren't really bad, but were a bit...off color. "Guy" humor! :bounce:

We didn't see Treasure Planet , so I can't compare - that movie never appealed to my dd so we didn't go. Yes it was action packed, but it reminded me of several disney movies and also Ice Age. Definetely more boy orientated - although Marina was a strong character. Still glad I didn''t have to pay to see it though.
