We just got back from our first trip "home"! :thumbsup2 Well, it wasn't actually our home, we are SSR people and we stayed at BWV. We stayed in a 2 br facing the clown pool (not scary to me, but we didn't face out towards it's face, more of the coaster part.) We picked BWV because that's what we thought the IL's would like the best.

BWV was very nice and well maintained. We used the free dining too, which worked out great!! Pretty much all we paid for was tips and souviners! We ate at O'hana's, Cape May Cafe and Whispering Canyon Cafe. My IL's loved all of them!

We were very lucky and were on the 2nd floor and very close to the lobby. (rm 2080 and 2082 to be exact). Perfect location in terms of walking. Didn't even have to use the elevator! That room was noisy at night though, when people stayed out at the pool. The bus situation at BWV was terrible. To get to Downtown Disney, we waited about 30-40 min, got on, then had to stop at Swan, Dolphin, Beach, and then Yacht club, then pass BWV again and head to DTD. The whole trip took nearly an hour!! The buses were packed too. The ride home was just as bad, BWV was the last stop! BUT, it is a busy season at the parks and so we knew next time to just drive! :rotfl:

We stayed 4 nights/5 days. Two of the days were spent at SSR (at the pool and the Spa) we also ate at Artist's Palette. I got the current list of discounts for DVC members for the spa, I can post tomorrow if anyone is interested. MIL got a massage, said it was heavenly. I went inside and peeked around, it smelled very nice and DH promised next time I'd have a day to myself. (we have little ones)

The pool did get crowded, but it was in the mid 90's and so we expected that. Wasn't too crowded we couldn't enjoy oursevles, you just have to get there early for the best "seating" (tables/lounge chairs.) Speaking of, there were lots of lounge chairs, way more than BWV had.

After spending a couple days on the grounds at SSR, DH and I decided we are staying there next time. We just love it!

Also, looks like they are building another pool house across from the main entrance, hopefully another large pool and snack bar.

Any questions, just ask!

Edited to add--we went to the DVC member welcome home event at BWV on Wednesday afternoon--anyone else there?

What "free dining"?

Sorry- not "free dining"--DDP. My IL's paid for the DDP so it was free to us anyway. I meant that it was all prepaid so we didn't worry about anything.

How were the buses to the parks? (AK, MK) Were they bad too?

So glad you had a good time!

We kind of did the same thing with SSR. While SSR is our home, we have been staying at OKW the last few years (which we love BTW :lovestruc ). After so many pool & spa days at SSR we realized we loved it there just as much as OKW & will be staying there for the first time in Sept. Can't wait.
