We just got back from our first trip with our son who has mild aspergers and SID. The GAC was a life saver!! He was very over stimulated at WDW and had his moments but for the most part did good. With planning, using TGM, and the GAC we had a very successful first trip. Also having a schedule printed out and laminated was helpful for him, he always knew what to expect. The CM's were all nice. The only nasty looks we got was from some moms in line at the character spot in Epcot. The CM saw my son's GAC card and could tell he was having a tough time so she let our group go ahead. But then my ds had a total "autistic moment" and I think the moms that gave me the "look" understood. :goodvibes

Glad you had a successful first trip! :goodvibes

Sounds like you had a great time. :)

Waiting for rides can be difficult with an autistic child, we try when we can to encourage Joshua to wait in line with everyone else providing the wait-time isn't too long.

Glad you had a good trip; line waiting is an issue most of the time for our children, especially if there are significant sensory issues involved. Over time we have “worked up” from just a few people in front to longer more sensory challenging lines. Of course desire for the ride or attraction and overall tiredness play a big role.

We only use the GAC on rare occasions anymore (although we do skip some rides or attractions when AS DS9 decides it is just “not worth the trouble”)
