Hello everyone!
First of all:
Thank you all for the Birthday greetings this past week!
I had a great time traveling with the bus company to Paris
and Disneyland/Walt Disney Studios. The hotel was Kyriad and
I can recommend it for families wishing to keep their budget down.
It wasn't a choice for me, really, since that was arranged by the
bus company. The hotel is very nice and friendly. No one in our group
missed the other Disney hotels.
The days at Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios were scheduled for
Monday and Thusday, since we had other activities planned for the
group to do, like visiting the Eiffel Tower and visiting the "other"
amusement park (I didn't go). The downside to that was that I missed
the opportunity to see Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show! Oh well, maybe next
time sometime next year.
I spent the first day in both Walt Disney Studios and Disneyland. I really enjoyed seeing people performing the old traditional days of filming at Studio one. There were two variations of this act. I enjoyed them both. I also went to see Cinematics, which was a great celebration of the movies. It was very cleverly done with Martin Short! I loved that attraction the most, so I saw that twice. I also thought the Armageddon attraction was a good one. I wasn't sure if it would be a fast moving event. So I was glad that it wasn't that bad (this was my second day). I also went to see the Animaton Studios.
That was a fun look at the history of Animation!
The visit at Disneyland was a bit short for the first day. I did see Mickey Mouse greeting the guesta coming in. I went on the attraction I was most interested in: The Pirates of the Carribean! I had never been on that and I enjoyed the film a great deal. I also went through the Alice in Wonderland maze, as well. At 4 pm I looked at the Parade and that included a favorite film: Mary Poppins, which I'll be getting soon. It was fun to see all the floats go by, too! I did get a nice look at some of the park the first day,
The second day, on Thursday, I spent more time at Walt Disney Studios. I managed to see and do more after a relaxing day before, on my birthday. I went strait for Armegeddon and enjoyed that. There were less people there at that time. I also went to see the Stunt show, which was a great deal of fun. I then went to see Animaques. LOts of fun to see! I walked around the park and noticed that the pavement had some "film" on it, too. I saw the parade and enjoyed that one, too.
I als went into Disney's Village, and I must say that I was delighted to
have my birthday dinner at Annettes Dinner. The group leader, along with
our four bus drivers (there were two busses) invited me for a dinner. I had a delicious double burger with cheeze and bacon, fries and, for dessert, a good strawberry milk shake. We even had a treat with the waiters dancing to music from Grease and Aretha Franklin singing Freedom! I really enjoyed that place a great deal, so I recommend that a great deal.
For my gifts, I got a nice shirt with DLP's 15 year celebration on it, a 3 CD set with Disney music and a small book about Disneyland DLP.
For a first time visitor, I have to day I think I did a a fairly good job at going to DLP. I'll have to see when I'll be able to go again. There's pleanty more to see and do. It's just a matter of knowing when it's best to go.
I do think that if you are from Sweden and want to experience both Paris and Disneyland together, that a bus trip would be your best bet since everything, with the exceptions of food and the excursions, is paid for. The hotel has some nice spaces for play and the bus ride is not so long, either!
All in all, I had a great time! It was fun to believe you were in a different time and place were anything can happen! I absolutely plan to travel again! Just seeing the 1930's style America when you enter the park is fun!
