Just Got back from Disney World....now really depressed...is that normal?

After my trip last year -Oct 2003, I went into really bad depression.......Prozac helps.....just kidding....I found that if it plan more than 1 vacation at a time it helps me make it to the next one. In Feb, I worked on a July holiday, May on October's June on next Feb (2005).

I take it as a personal challenge to find the "cheapest" luxury vacation possible, so this keeps me very busy hunting and no time to get down (or do much work either but that's okay)

Don't forget about our "SHORT" DISMeets!

Those always help beat the WDW Blues!

I find that the most depressing part about coming back is that nobody can really relate to what your going through (except for all of us that is!) People at work think your nuts, your family doesn't get it... to them it's just a theme park after all but once you've immersed yourself in the "magic" you really miss it when it's gone. So take the advice of those of us who do get it and empathize greatly....pictures, home video, the DIS board and lots of extra planning can really ease the pain!:(
Good luck and just imagine the look of surprise on their faces when yoy utter those magical words...."We're going to Disney World....again!!!!" :love1:

Happy planning!:cat: :cloud9: :cool1:

You really know you're an addict when you cry as you go through the gates for the last time before heading home. Last time my DS who was eight was sobbing in the van. He said I just want to stay here and never go home. Then I was crying right along side of him.

People who don't get it think we're wacko. This support group here is an awesome thing and Scratch is right about the DIS meets. It helps us through the hard times.

To me this is the best addiction around.:hyper:

Visit us often and you'll feel like you're there a lot of the time by "talking" to the rest of us.

Planning is the best therapy I know. For me it was buying DVC because now I can go "home" every year!!:bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Well I certainly understand what you are going through. We will be arriving at WDW in less than a week, my packing is almost done and I'm already looking into booking our next trip.

I'm thinking late June or July, maybe try camping at W.D.W.

We have a hard top camper but I'm just not too sure about that drive to Florida.

Enjoy all the memories and your Disney pictures and start that Little bit of Magic fund.

Buy your family a Disney Monopoly set for Christmas. I was lucky enough to come across it last year at Wal-Mart for under $20 and I wrapped it up and let "Santa" put it under the tree. My son is just turning 5 and even he will play(for a little while anyway). My daughter who is 7 gets right into it and it keeps the magic alive! Also, follow everyones tips here on the boards for saving $$$ cause all these people know soooo much about Disney!I know this sounds silly, but on the rare occasion when I have time for myself I will browse the Disney store. We also have a few really fun live action sing a long videos that show resort and WDW footage that are great fun...Anyway, I also have this problem but my withdrawl is from travel in general! I love planning vacations and really think I should be in the industry!!!

I feel your pain! We went on our first trip last December. It was supposed to be the "once in a lifetime" trip, but because I did such a great job of budgeting ( 10 days hotel, airfare, car rental, food, tickets, souveniers for 2 adults & 2 children for ... drum roll.. $4300. CDN!) that we are now actively planning the next trip for Nov/05. I realized that last year for my kids' birthdays I spent about $500. between them on party, gift, treat bags, cake, etc and I thought "Wow, that will pay for their airfare to Disney!" so I told them that next year we would go for a week between their birthdays to celebrate there. Mu husband also loaded the digital pictures on the computer, and they run as a screen saver. We relive our trip daily. We even got out the Disney planning video last week and watched it twice. I can hardly stand the excitement, and I still have a year to go!

The old withdrawal...

symptoms?

1. the uncontrollable urge to show everyone your 4 hour long home video of the trip - even if you know they could care less.

2. the itch to visit the closest Disney Store?

3. the insane need to research all about WDW and of course plan your next trip

4. I'm sure symptoms vary depending on the individual

I first went in 94 and came home with that awful feeling. I became obsessed with the place and read everything I could about it. All of the tour guide books, then walt disney biographies, then cast member books/stories and websites. Watched all the specials. Watched the home video...over and over again. Ordered all of the trip planning videos (no DVDs at the time). I thought the place was ingenious (still do, of course). So I planned the next trip in 97 with my girlfriend as an after high school graduation celebration. Came home to the same feelings...but this time I found a way to satisfy my cravings - applied and got accepted to work at Epcot for the year. Maybe working and living there for that year decreased my 'need' to be there - somewhat. And changed my ideas about it as any place would after it becomes "real life". I'm definitely not obsessed anymore and don't really have the desire to read new books that are published about it. But I went back this year after 5 years away from it and still enjoyed it to its fullest. It brought back the initial feeling of amazement when I went back - and I think that's what gets me the most. You come home with that feeling missing. The train ride in to work just is nothing compared to the monorail ride over to the MK, is it?

There really is no place like it in the world. No matter how many places I go, how many natural wonders I see, how many historical and cultural relics I visit that have stood for thousands of years, WDW seems to have something in it that no place else can replicate. Maybe because it's synonymous with family togetherness more so than any other destination and to most family is the most important thing...or maybe speculating and guessing just brings back the feeling of reality to a place that deserves to remain fantastical? It is a place that is physically the same to everyone but means so many different things to so many different people.

K...after writing this I'm pondering what it would take to convince my girlfriend to go back next year rather than Mexico. Hmmm...
