Just got back after staying 5 days at CBR and we were really pleased with the entire experience. The room was plenty large enough for me, my husband and the 5 year old twins. I really liked that there was so much storage space in the room and that our duffel bags and other luggage, once emptied, could be stored under the bed. We stayed in Jamaica 46 and were always the first pick up and first drop off on the bus route. We took the buses everywhere except for MGM, which was such a short car drive. I think that what really helped our trip out was that attendance at Disney was pretty low while we were there -- busy, but not crowded at all. Thus, CBR was pretty quiet and the entire Disney staff pretty relaxed. Definately worth taking the kids out of school to avoid the busier times of the year.

Glad you had a great time! We stayed at CBR early Sept and had a great time. We were in Jamaica 41. We liked it so much that we are thinking of staying again in June 2004.::yes::  :Pinkbounc

How far was the walk from Jamaica to the food court? I have a reservation for CBR in June and I requested Jamaica. I wanted to be out of the way of the main pool area but not completely isolated either. :D

Hello twinsurvivor, it sounds like you had a great time. We are staying at the CBR during the period December 13-20. This is our first time at the CBR and during Christmas time. I can't wait to get there!:hyper: Did you stay on the first or second floor? If it was the second floor, could you please tell me how steep and long the stairs are. My parents are in their seventies, and will be going with us at the same time. I would like to request the second floor, but am a little leary since my mother has some problems with her legs. If the stairs are not too steep, she could probably handle them.

Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.:goodvibes

>>If it was the second floor, could you please tell me how steep and long the stairs are.

Depends on where the room is. There is either access to stairs that are a straight walk up...Not too steep at all.
Or there are the stairs that "wrap" ..menaing go up a little ..
and wrap to go the rest of the way..

>>How far was the walk from Jamaica to the food court?

Just over the bridge...walk through the island and over another bridge. Not long at all...took us like 5 minutes

Both of these experiences were from jamica bldg 43 on a corner room facing the parking lot 2nd floor near straight stairs..

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Even though the CBR is a little older the then other moderates, I still love the charm and atmosphere of the place.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at CBR, I like that resort a lot. :D

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. Isn't CBR beautiful?! We stayed there for a short trip last year, just 5 days. I absolutely cannot not wait for our trip this year. 10 days at CBR!!! I might actually get a chance to relax in a hammock this time.

I am so excited for my November WDW trip!
F&WF and CBR??!! WOW!!

twinsurvivor , glad to hear that you had a great stay at CBR. I will be going back for another visit at the end of Oct. I can't wait. It is like going home.

tinawv, I would mention at check in that your mother has a hard time walking. They are very accomodating and are very eager to please. More than likely she will get a first floor room.

Just returned tonight also from 5 nights at CBR. We were in Barbados 15, room 1553. It was a corner room with a waterview of the lake and pool, second floor. I thought the second floor would be more quiet but it was noisy because the stairs to the pool and beach were on that corner. One night about midnight I heard this loud banging, I got up to see what it was, someone was dragging a large stroller up the steps! About a 5 minute walk to the food court, it is the close to Martinique. Far from the bus stop and parking lot (15 sits back from the parking lot). Love the grounds at CBR, it's my favorite of the 4 moderates (stayed at all of them). Saw lots of lizards! Only rode the bus twice to MK, Saturday night and last night to MNSSHP. We waited quite awhile last night. Saturday night the bus stopped at Jamaica first but last night stopped at Martinique first. We got off there and walked to our room. I was surprised how crowded the food court was at 9:30-10:00am, I thought we were the only ones who were not at the parks at opening time. Bought the refillable mugs, used them alot. I saw quite a few people using old mugs and mugs from other resorts.

We will be there this Friday!!!! Never stayed at CBR before & requested Martinique 24. Hope we like it as well as WL. Just couldn't fit it into the budget (No room only codes came out):(

Any suggestions on what not to miss or do at this resort???

I am curious about coconut postcards???

Thanks!!
E

To me the best thing about CBR is, it is so relaxing. It's a beautiful place to just sit or stroll around and take in the sites. My DS and I took out a mouse boat last year, and had a great time. We also rented a surry bike. It was fun. The coconut postcards are cool, but I didn't want to spend $15 on it.

A nice thing to do is sit on the beach by Martinique at 9 PM and watch Illuminations from Epcot. It is almost like being there. You will love CBR.

Glad to hear the positive remarks on CBR. I am staying there for the first time in November and have been a little nervous about the size of the resort, transportation, etc.

We stayed at CBR in August and loved it. Big debate regarding where to stay with our February trip. :jester:

In answer to the coconuts postcards question, we saw them at Old Port Royale. They were $15.00, I believe.

Thanks llrain and safetymom for the info. Safetymom - I will take your advice and request a first floor room for my mother at check in. Hopefully, we are going at a low attendance time and they can meet our requests. Also, at the top of our list is a non smoking room. I agree with you that they are accomodating as much as possible.

Getting closer and the excitement is rising! :earsgirl:

We were there last week in Jamaica 44 and loved it! Was a very pleasant walk over the bridge to pool and foodcourt. We loved exploring the island on the way over. We arrived at 10am and got ALL our requests and the room was ready! This was Wed morning, the slowest day in MK I have ever witnessed.:D Thurs. was the slowest day in Epcot we have experienced so perhaps that is why we got all our requests and the room was ready!::yes::
I must say the CM who checked us in was very pleasant but very robotic. DH and I had a good laugh later.:teeth: She must have been new and memorized the book as she wanted to tell us everything as if she were reading it. We have SP's and pretty much knew more than she did and just wanted to get to the parks!:hyper:
Anyway, we loved CBR and have tried all the mods now. Will return to CBR for sure!

Bibbidi,
Thanks for the little mini trip report. I am hoping to stay in the Jamaican section also. In November I am going with my 2 cousins and none of us have stayed at CBR. I am kind of nervouse cause I want this trip to go so smooth and the resort has got me worrying.
Your reply made me feel so much better. I am so excited!:hyper:
